BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Political parties and figures from African countries speak highly of China's actions to help them combat the COVID-19 pandemic, which raise their confidence about defeating the novel coronavirus.

The meeting called for intensifying support for Internet Plus and the platform economy to cultivate new forms of industry in the digital economy and create new jobs and professions. Traditional industries should upgrade themselves faster by harnessing the industrial internet and developing online and cloud services. Integrated online and offline services will be promoted, focusing on elderly care, childcare and domestic services and other sectors with high potential of job creation. The platforms for employee sharing and employment security will be further developed to provide online employment and social security services for the flexibly-employed.

"We have learned from you. We have stood by you, and you're standing with us. So this (COVID-19) challenge has brought the peoples of China and Pakistan even closer. In this challenging time, the (Pakistani) people expected China to come forth and China has lived up to their expectations," the foreign minister told Xinhua.

Wang said that the Chinese side has been sharing epidemic-related information and carrying out anti-epidemic cooperation with the international community in an open, transparent and responsible manner since the beginning of its fight against the outbreak, adding that the country is currently providing various forms of support to nearly 100 countries in need.
