Mosinee (Wisc.) High School teen Jayson Goetz was the talk of his high school's prom after he showed up in green and gold Green Bay Packers suit covered with Packers logos and topped off with bright yellow pants and a Packers bow tie. Goetz, a Mosinee High School junior, said he and his friends didn't want to put on the typical, stuffy black tuxedo and blend into the background of prom. And he was glad he made the decision.“It was one of the greatest nights of my life,” Jayson told the Wausau Daily Herald. “I wish I could relive it a hundred times.”Goetz and his mom assembled the ensemble on Amazon.com and said the prom attire is a tribute to his late grandfathers—Mike Goetz and Phil Riedel, both of Mosinee—who died in 2017. “I wish they both would have seen (the suit),” Jayson told the Wausau Daily Herald. “I think they both would have laughed. They would have loved it.”Goetz's mom was skeptical about the outfit at first, but once she heard the reason he wanted to wear it, she happily approved. “I had no idea what he was doing when he first told me about it,” she told the Wausau Daily Herald. “I probably tried to talk him out of it at first. I didn’t know what he was getting into.“Then he told me why he wanted to wear it.”Mosinee High School is located 20 minutes south of Wausau and had a student population of 634 as of January 2017. National Guard troops stationed along the US-Mexico border have contributed to 1,600 apprehensions of people crossing the border illegally and the capture of about 1,000 pounds of marijuana in their three-and-a-half weeks on the job, according to a Customs and Border Protection official.The official said the National Guard troops have also contributed to 451 "turn backs," where individuals abandon an attempt to illegally cross into the US.The official did not have comparison numbers available, so it was not possible to determine if those figures were substantially more than if National Guard troops had not been dispatched to the border. 652

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee community came together Friday to make sure an unclaimed veteran would not be forgotten. Large crowds turned out on a rainy morning to pay their respects to Leo Stokley, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He died Sunday at the Waters of Cheatham in Ashland City. He was 69 years old.Stokley served in the United States Marine Corps and did a tour of duty in Vietnam.After his passing, he had no family to attend his funeral. That’s when the community stepped in to make sure he wouldn't be buried alone. Hundreds of veterans and their friends and family showed up to show respect for Stokley.The push for help started among veterans groups on social media and was quickly shared during the week before the funeral."It's very heartwarming to see this many veterans and friends of veterans that show up here on a cold, rainy day, a weekday, to send him off in style. I'm proud for that. I'm proud for these guys that did that." said Bob Counter, an Air Force veteran.He was laid to rest at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.  1100

NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - Authorities Tuesday released the name of a man being sought on suspicion of fleeing the scene of a four-vehicle crash that killed another driver on Interstate 5 in National City last weekend.The crash on northbound I-5, south of Mile of Cars Way, happened around 4:50 a.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said.A 2017 Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling at high speed when the driver veered into the center median to pass a slower vehicle and struck a parked, unoccupied 1996 Nissan 200 coupe, Sanchez said.RELATED: Fatal National City crash shuts down northbound Interstate 5The pickup overturned after hitting the Nissan, which was pushed into the side of a passing vehicle, the officer said. The truck and the Nissan came to a stop blocking several traffic lanes.A 2003 Honda CRV then struck the Toyota, according to the CHP. The SUV's driver, 36-year-old Luis Felipe Marin of San Ysidro, was pronounced dead at the scene.CHP investigators determined that 45-year-old Raul Brown was the last known driver of the Toyota, but attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful, Sanchez said.Anyone with information about Brown's whereabouts was asked to contact CHP Officer Brad Clinkscales at 858-293-6028. 1256
