CINCINNATI -- A 911 operator who was placed on leave after a teen's death will return to work Wednesday.Police spokeswoman Tiffaney Hardy couldn't say if that operator, Amber Smith, would face any discipline because an investigation is continuing.Smith took the second call Kyle Plush placed to 911 as he suffocated in his van outside Seven Hills School. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A South Bay couple said they were able to pay off their mortgage by renting out their home on the weekends.“We paid off our house, and now we weekend on a boat. It’s incredible,” said Chris Morrow.Stepping into Chris Morrow’s backyard is like crossing a plane into an outdoor oasis. It's filled with toys, games, and multiple spots where you can pull up a chair and relax."You want to use every space of your backyard,” Morrow said.But having a dream backyard and a home in Chula Vista was once just a dream."Being a journalist, you don’t make a lot of money these days -- you follow your heart. Living in San Diego County, which is a resort town, you need to be creative,” Morrow said.Morrow is a CNN iReporter and a food and travel writer. About five years ago, before the housing market got hot, she and her husband leveraged their money and bought the Chula Vista home."I never even thought about Chula Vista, but it's a beautiful area,” she said. “I have a 1947 craftsman home, natural wood floors, beautiful plaster walls. There's a lot of uniqueness to it.”Morrow’s turned that charm into a small business: an Airbnb rental. It’s a move that drastically changed her life."Everybody wants to live that American dream, and we're doing it because we're renting this house out for Airbnb,” she said.Here's how they did it. Morrow said a few years into homeownership, she tried renting out just one of their rooms. It was a good first step, but it didn't bring in any extra cash. Morrow said they ended up spending most of the money on the guest they were hosting."I wasn't able to use that money for anything else, just entertaining,” she said.They decided to up the ante. Instead of renting out one room, Morrow said they rented out the entire house. It meant adding beds, furniture and moving into a hotel on the weekends."The first time we decided to rent the house we were so nervous,” Morrow said. “We must have driven by the house at least six times just to make sure they weren't having a huge party that you hear about in those movies."The decision was a hit. Now their rental can host up 16 people. The going rate is anywhere from 0 to ,800 a night. They’re regularly hosting large groups and have even done a wedding in the backyard. Most weekends are booked solid."We've paid this house off, and we were able to buy a boat, we're able to pay for the gas for the boat,” Morrow said.The extra income means they don't have to stay at a hotel on the weekends. Instead, they purchased a two-cabin, one-bath, 41-foot sport fisher boat. The purchase made possible by renting out her house."We’re living the dream,” she said. “We're staying here (the boat) on the weekends, and we're loving it.”In a resort town, one of the more expensive places in the country, Morrow is not only surviving, but she's also thriving. All it took was a little ingenuity and trust in people."We are creatively living the American dream,” she said.Tips for being a successful 5-star rental takes more than just renting out your house to be successful. (AP) — The potential magnitude of the wildfire disaster in Northern California escalated as officials raised the death toll to 71 and released a missing-persons list with 1,011 names on it more than a week after the flames swept through.The fast-growing roster of people unaccounted for probably includes some who fled the blaze and do not realize they have been reported missing, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said late Thursday.He said he made the list public in the hope that people will see they are on it and let authorities know they are OK."The chaos that we were dealing with was extraordinary," Honea said of the crisis last week, when the flames razed the town of Paradise and outlying areas in what has proved to be the nation's deadliest wildfire in a century. "Now we're trying to go back out and make sure that we're accounting for everyone."Firefighters continued gaining ground against the 222-square mile (575-square-kilometer) blaze, which was reported 45 percent contained Friday. It destroyed 9,700 houses and 144 apartment buildings, the state fire agency said.Rain in the forecast Tuesday night could help knock down the flames but also complicate efforts by more 450 searchers to find human remains in the ashes. (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District’s reopening plan for the 2020-21 was approved by its board Monday, with the school year set to begin Aug. 3 via distance learning.The district first announced its reopening plan during a meeting on July 23.From Aug. 3-Oct. 2, all classes will be virtual -- based on public health orders issued by the state.To start the year, while distance learning, students will be on a daily block schedule. Students will have three classes a day with 30-45 minutes of face time with their teacher and 45-60 minutes of class spent as independent study.Devices for distance learning will be available for all students. (KGTV) – Police are investigating the death of a woman whose nude body was found in the middle of a Chula Vista street early Thursday morning.At around 12:30 a.m., a person called 911 to report a naked woman lying face down in the middle of the 200 block of Shasta Street, near Second Avenue.Responding police officers checked the woman and found she was not breathing and had no pulse.Despite CPR attempts, the woman -- described as Hispanic, in her 20s, and a Chula Vista resident -- was declared dead at the scene.Police told ABC 10News there was no immediate indication the woman was struck by a vehicle. On Friday, police identified the victim as 33-year-old Laura Rodriguez.Chula Vista police Lt. Dan Peak said, "It's very suspicious at this time. The manner of death is unknown. At this time, we don't know why this person was here and why they were left here in the roadway."Officers are questioning neighborhood residents as part of their investigation."It's a bit of a shock. This is a very quiet neighborhood ... About 20 minutes before she was found, I heard a vehicle revving up its engine and going around the corner," said neighbor Roger Murray.The Chula Vista Police Department is trying to locate witnesses or anyone with information regarding Rodriguez's death.
