Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell cut a deal with Democratic leaders in the upper chamber to clear a slate of President Donald Trump's nominees, one of the top August priorities for the Kentucky Republican.The deal, which permitted 11 nominees to be cleared immediately and another eight to be voted on next week, also will allow senators who missed most of their August recess to go home for a couple of days before many come back at the end of the week to say farewell to their colleague Sen. But Democrats were able to delay OK'ing some of the nominees at least until next week.Democrats insisted on roll call votes for some of the picks, including Richard Clarida -- to be vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board -- who was confirmed 69-26, and Joseph Hunt -- to be assistant attorney general for the Civil Division of the Department of Justice -- who was confirmed 72-23.The Senate approved several judges by voice votes, a speedier tool when nominees are not considered controversial.One of those judges was Terry Moorer, who was appointed by Trump to be a US district judge in Alabama's Southern District about a year ago.In a statement, Sen. Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson called the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia store last week "reprehensible" and promised to take action so that it doesn't happen again.A store manager called the police because the two men were sitting in the store without placing an order. They were arrested for trespassing. The customers said they were waiting for another man to arrive. That person arrived at the store as they were being arrested.A Starbucks spokesperson says the manager in the store who called police is no longer working in that store, although she would not comment if she is working at another location.Johnson said there would be more training for staff on the issue of "unconscious bias.""I've been very focused on understanding what guidelines and what training ever let this happen," he said. "What happened was wrong and we will fix it."Johnson had already posted apologies on the company's website. He said the company wanted to "express our deepest apologies to the two men who were arrested with a goal of doing whatever we can to make things right." He said he hoped to meet with the two men in person to make a face-to-face apology. He was in Philadelphia on Monday when he conducted the interview on Good Morning America."Starbucks stands firmly against discrimination or racial profiling," he said on the blog post.Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney issued his own statement calling the incident "appears to exemplify what racial discrimination looks like in 2018." He added that the apology from Starbucks "is not enough" and that he would ask the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations to examine the firm's policies and procedures and whether there should be bias training for its employees. And protests were taking place for Monday in Philadelphia by community residents who want the Starbucks store where the incident took place closed.Prosecutors in Philadelphia have announced there would be no charges pursued against the men. Several U.S. airlines are boosting their flight schedules ahead of the Thanksgiving in anticipation of a surge in travelers flying during the holiday amid the coronavirus pandemic.An American Airlines spokesperson told FOX Business that they plan to increase its flights from Nov. 24-25 and Nov. 28-30 by 15%, bumping up from an average of 3,500 flights per day to more than 4,000 flights over the holiday.United Airlines said that they would boost capacity, with the carrier predicting Thanksgiving week will be its busiest since March, so they are planning to add more than 1,400 domestic flights that week.The carrier added that they'd "swap in larger aircraft" to accommodate any last-minute travel demands.In December, United said it'll add more than 140 daily flights and increase capacity on more than 350 routes as passengers look to travel during the holidays that month.JetBlue and Delta Airlines are also adding more flights in anticipation of passengers traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday.JetBlue said 25 flights from New York City and surrounding areas to Florida, California, and in the Caribbean, such as Port-au-Prince, San Juan, Santiago, and Santo Domingo, will be added between Nov. 20 and Nov. 30.Meanwhile, Delta said it'll increase to over 3,800 peak-day flights per day during Thanksgiving.Delta said it'll increase service to leisure destinations in Hawaii, Mexico, and Florida. 1417
