The Philippine side agrees that countries in the region should jointly safeguard peace and stability of the South China Sea, and stands ready to actively promote the development of relations between ASEAN and China, he said.
He said building strong synergy between the two countries' strategies and realizing complementary advantages will help promote connectivity between Asia and Europe and push the global economy to develop in a more open, inclusive and balanced way.
"After this summit, perhaps we can see the 'light at the end of the tunnel,' even if we still have a way to go to get to that light," he said.
