"The Great British Bake Off" judge Prue Leith took some heat after she revealed what went on in the kitchen.Leith accidentally announced the winner in a tweet hours before the finale aired on Tuesday. The tweet was hastily deleted and Leith tweeted an apology for the spoiler, explaining she was in a different time zone when she sent it out."I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning," her tweet read. "I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error #GBBO."But the incident had already left a bad taste in some viewers' mouths, especially coming on the heels of the furor over judge Mary Berry leaving and being replaced by Leith. The amateur baking competition is a cultural phenomenon both in the UK and abroad.Last year it was announced that the series was leaving the BBC for a new home on Channel 4.Soon after, hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc and judge Berry announced they would be departing the show. The gaffe by Leith apparently didn't stop viewers from tuning in, however.According to The Guardian,"The programme attracted an overnight audience of 7.7 million, a 34.6% share of the audience and well above the average for the series before the final of 6 million."For those who missed Leith's tweet and were wondering, contestant Sophie Faldo won. 1303
You may not have heard of Inspire Brands, but chances are you've eaten a meal at one of its franchises. The owner of Sonic Drive-In, Arby's and Buffalo Wild Wings is making another addition to its growing restaurant empire: sandwich chain Jimmy John's.Inspire said the acquisition of Jimmy John's will make it the fourth-largest US restaurant company, with more than billion in annual sales across 11,200 restaurants. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed."Jimmy John's is a great fit for the Inspire family," said Paul Brown, Inspire's co-founder and CEO. "What started in 1983 as a sandwich shop in a converted garage in Charleston, Illinois, has grown into a national, differentiated brand with a passionate fanbase."The company acquired hamburger joint Sonic last year for .3 billion.Inspire Brands, a private equity-backed firm that also owns Rusty Taco, said the agreement was unanimously approved by the Jimmy John's board of directors, including founder and chairman Jimmy John Liautaud. At the close of the purchase, which is expected by the end of October, James North will serve as president of the Jimmy John's brand, and Liautaud will step down as chairman and transition to an adviser role.Jimmy John's, which has more than 2,800 locations in 43 states, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 1357

A Kansas congressional hopeful said Monday that he's sticking by his campaign giveaway of an AR-15 rifle despite criticism in light of last Wednesday's mass school shooting in Florida."We aren't using this to raise money," Tyler Tannahill told HLN's Carol Costello. "We had this planned over a month ago to kind of coincide with the Kansas Republican Convention."The Republican candidate launched the giveaway along with his candidacy on February 13, a day before an AR-15-style rifle was used in the Parkland, Florida, massacre that left 17 people dead. 584
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- A top lieutenant to drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman has been sentenced to life in prison in a Virginia courtroom. Damaso Lopez, a leader in Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel, pleaded guilty in September in an Alexandria federal court to drug trafficking charges after being extradited from Mexico earlier this year. Friday's life sentence was expected after both sides agreed to a life term as part of a plea bargain. In court papers, Lopez admitted he was a senior leader in the Sinaloa cartel and controlled a faction with hundreds of men. He admitted using "sicarios," or hitmen, to conduct murders to further the cartel's interest and move tons of cocaine and other drugs throughout the Americas.Lopez's sentencing comes as Guzman is facing his own trial in New York. 806
EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - An El Cajon homeowner knew he had a bee problem but never expected the "massive" hive discovered in his backyard."It's pretty incredible," said Herb Herbert. He first noticed a few bees about two years ago in the back yard of his home on Primrose Drive."The bees were coming in and out of a small hole at the bottom of my shed," said Herbert. The vent hole is one of several that led to open spaces under his shed. Last winter, the bees seemed to go away, but they were back in the summer. Herbert was stung once while mowing the lawn."There were 20 to 30 bees buzzing outside at any time," said Herbert.Herbert had plans for some entertaining in the near future, so last week he hired Bee Nice Wildlife Management. They peeled back the wood flooring in one corner of the shed and discovered a 30-inch long, 70-pound hive, home to between 100,000 and 150,000 honey bees."I had no idea the scope of what was under there. It was massive and amazing. The bee guy said we were lucky, the bees were getting set to expand the hive," said Herbert. As the local bee season gets underway, Herbert calls that possibility mind-boggling. While honeybees are generally not aggressive, they can still be dangerous. The bee removal company was able to relocate the hive and the bees. They say the size of the hive is not an indication of what may lie ahead. Because it's been a slightly above average rainfall, the region is likely in store for a typical bee season. 1482
