GRASS VALLEY, Calif. -- A California man has a lot to be thankful for after he reportedly fought off a black bear to save the life of his pit bull named Buddy, according to CBS News.The day before Thanksgiving, Buddy was outside playing near his home in Nevada County, California. Kaleb Bentham said something didn’t sound right.“I heard a growl, looked about 75-100 feet down, and the bear was dragging him by his head, had his head in his mouth,” Benham told CBS13.Benham saved Buddy from a shelter a few years ago, and didn’t hesitate to rescue him again.“I just ran down there, plowed into the bear, tackled it and grabbed it by the throat and started hitting it in the face and the eye until it let go,” Benham said.Benham then describes the frantic search for a veterinary hospital that was open during the pandemic. HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KGTV) -- Los Angeles Police Thursday released body-camera videos that show what happened leading up to the moment police shot and killed a machete-wielding man, KABC reports. The incident happened on November 26, 2019 on a street in Hollywood. The event began to unfold when the suspect, Nathaniel Pinnock, reportedly robbed a store near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Pinnock allegedly used a knife in the robbery. The body-cam video shows the 22-year-old stealing a vehicle at a fast-food restaurant before crashing it into several police cruisers. HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Henrico Police are working to identify a woman who allegedly punched a teenage McDonald's employee in the face after the employee failed to put ketchup on her sandwich.The alleged assault took place at the White Oak McDonald's in eastern Henrico County.The victim's mom said that the woman approached her daughter and instigated a fight after she did not put ketchup on the woman's sandwich."She asked my daughter if she had a problem, and my daughter said, 'No, I have no problem,'" the victim's mother said. (AP) — Crews are working to recover the body of a tourist who slipped and fell over a Grand Canyon lookout.The fall happened Thursday morning on the Hualapai Tribe's reservation to the west of Grand Canyon National Park.David Leibowitz is a spokesman for Grand Canyon West, a popular tourist destination on the reservation. He says a man in his 50s from Hong Kong fell and slipped at Eagle Point while trying to take photographs. He says the man, who was part of a tour group, is presumed dead.Eagle Point is adjacent to the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that juts out from the canyon wall. The rim has some ledges and outcroppings below but no barrier between tourists and the edge.Leibowitz says the area is closed for the day. 773
