"We aren't talking about shutting down the country. We are talking about locking down. We are talking about simple public health measures that we all talked about mask wearing, distancing, avoiding congregate settings, doing things to the extent that we can outdoors versus indoors and if we do that we'll be able to hold things off until the vaccine comes."Vice President Mike Pence says that the US will have 100 million doses of a vaccine ready to begin distribution as soon as an emergency use authorization is granted. General Gustave Perna, who is leading the government's distribution efforts of a vaccine said that when an emergency use authorization is given, the first doses of a vaccine will be distributed within 24 hours. Pfizer says its vaccine candidate could seek emergency use authorization from the FDA as soon as Friday.Distribution will be a challenge as the leading coronavirus vaccines have to be stored at extremely cold conditions.Perna said that the federal government is working with states on setting up places for a vaccine to be availble. The vaccines can be distributed from hospitals down to a local Walgreens or CVS. "We will distribute the vaccine accordingly," Perna said. "We want the vaccines at the places where the American people are comfortable; at our hospitals, our doctors offices, CVS, Walgreens and the health care facilities, places where people are comfortable going. That's where we started"Thursday’s briefing comes on the same day that the CDC urged Americans not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday and asked Americans to only celebrate the holiday with those in their household.Earlier this week, task force member Dr. Scott Atlas criticized public health experts for advising Americans not to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. (WFTX)  -- A Florida woman got creative with spare spray paint and plywood and made a sign to get the power company's attention.“I thought that all of my neighbors would get a huge kick out of it,” said Kynse Agles.She posed for a photo next to her pink sign that reads, “Hot single female seeks sexy lineman to electrify her life.”Just days before she posted the sign outside her Fort Myers home, Agles went under the knife for a kidney transplant. “My hurricane story started with a double organ transplant at Tampa General Hospital,” she said.Agles had to stay in air conditioning in order to avoid complications from her procedure. “I found a place to stay that had electricity and have been jumping from bed to couch,” she said.Then a light bulb went off in her head.“I saw a post on Facebook and I thought it was really funny and I can do it better,” she said. “I just thought maybe if a lineman got to my neighborhood they’ll laugh and hook me up first,” she added.Her sign did catch the attention of linemen. Specifically, Garcia says, treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities."Now, at some point, depending on what the next president decides to do, if that affects monetary policy by the Fed(eral Reserve) and the Fed has already come out and said we don't plan on changing anything but the president has the ability to influence that. If they make a decision that could ultimately affect what the Fed’s decision on monetary policy is, we would see a rapid increase in interest rates according with that," said Garcia.Another potential big influence on interest rates? "If COVID-19 is cured, you’re going to see rates spike overnight. Or any kind of change in economic policy or even, too, the economy itself being affected by COVID has the potential to drive interest rates a lot higher. So, there’s definitely on the horizon two major components, the election and COVID cure that are going to affect interest rates going forward," said Garcia.Garcia says it's best to take advantage of interest rates while they're low.
