BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance said here Wednesday that it will sell a batch of 30-year long-term book-entry treasury bonds this week at a yield of 4.23 percent.The bonds, with a total face value of 28 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars), will be sold over five days starting Thursday, said the ministry in a statement on its website.The bonds are the 40th batch of the kind to be sold by the ministry this year, and will be the fifth batch of 30-year T-bonds the ministry has sold this year.The bonds will become tradable on Dec. 15 through the national inter-bank bond market and over the counter at designated commercial banks. Interest will be paid every half year.

MANILA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- A cargo ship with 24 Chinese crew aboard sank off the waters of the Philippines' Batanes province on Friday afternoon, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Saturday.Quoting a report from the Batanes provincial police office, PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz said Saturday the Panama cargo vessel MV Hong Wei met the incident about 120 nautical miles (222 kilometers) off Itbayat island around 3:22 p.m. Friday.Cruz could not immediately say what caused the vessel to sink or the vessel's destination.A passing vessel, MV Shun Tong, and a ship from China's Taiwan region's coast guard rescued 12 crew and two passengers, respectively, said Cruz, adding that at least three ships from Taiwan region's coast guard are currently at the scene to conduct search and rescue operations for the 10 still missing crew members.A rescue vessel from the Chinese mainland is expected to arrive at the site anytime Saturday to join the search and rescue operations, said Cruz.Wang Ben, police attache of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Philippines, told Xinhua that the embassy has confirmed the incident with China's Ministry of Transport. The ministry said that rescuing vessels from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan are conducting joint search and rescue operations, said Wang.The Philippines, a Southeast Asian archipelago country, is located to the south of China.
GUANGZHOU, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- A fishing boat with at least 13 crew aboard has been missing for a week in waters off the coast of south China's Guangdong Province, authorities said Friday.The boat, registered in Yangxi County, Yangjiang City, was unable to be located at its anchoring spot in Dongping Port at 3 a.m. on Dec. 16, when other boats in the port that were taking shelter from strong winds received the boat's distress call, Yangxi County marine affairs officials said.Winds of up to 72 kilometers per hour started blowing on Dec. 15, whipping up five- to six-meter-high waves, the official said.The family of the boat's owner, Feng Zixing, reported the boat missing on Dec. 17, after private searches failed to find the boat or its crew.Feng and most of the missing crew are from the county's Lanpao Village.A search for the boat had found nothing by 7 p.m. Friday.The 28-meter-long, 5-meter-wide boat was built with steel in 2001. It was equipped with radar and walkie-talkies.
