(KGTV) -- Thursday afternoon, police chased a suspect through San Diego County they say stole a vehicle from National City. During the pursuit, police used spikes, which shredded tires on the truck. After the truck came to a stop in Encanto, police could be seen shooting pepper balls into the truck. The suspect emerged from the vehicle a few moments later when a police K9 could be seen attacking the suspect before he was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. Police say a Pit Bull was found in the back seat of the truck. At this time, authorities say it's unclear whether the dog belongs to the suspect or the person the truck was stolen from. 10News was live throughout the chase. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — As the COVID-19 vaccine starts to be administered and mid-state counties are already reporting that they’ve received the first shipments, doctors want you to know about the possible side effects of the vaccine, and not to be confused about them, including sore muscles, aches, and a fever."It’s a small one to two days sense of illness," said Patsy Stinchfield, with the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. Milwaukee is seeing an unexpected spike in cases of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, according to health officials.There are high incidence rates in communities with larger vulnerable populations, including men who have sex with men, ethnic minorities, injection drug users and women, especially those who have been trafficked or who work in the sex trade, city Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia McManus said this week.Three Milwaukee children born with syphilis were identified in 2017, McManus said. "It rarely occurs," she said, and "the last known single case was in 2012." This "sentinel event" -- an unexpected and dramatic occurrence -- is a cause for concern, she said.Syphilis is the most serious bacterial STD. Left untreated, it can affect the brain, heart and other organs, ultimately leading to death.Angela Hagy, director of Disease Control and Environmental Health for the City of Milwaukee Health Department, reported the preliminary number of new diagnoses of sexually transmitted disease in 2017 for the Wisconsin city: 117 cases of HIV, 53 cases of syphilis, 4,401 cases of gonorrhea and 9,725 cases of chlamydia.The numbers represent a 13% increase in new cases of HIV compared with 2016, a 29% increase in syphilis, a 12% increase in gonorrhea and a 0.5% increase in chlamydia, according to Clarene Mitchell, a spokeswoman for the department of health.Gonorrhea and chlamydia are both bacterial infections. Gonorrhea can cause severe and permanent health problems, including long-term pain and infertility, and chlamydia can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, which can affect fertility in women and cause testicular pain and swelling in men.For 2016, the Milwaukee metropolitan statistical area was already ranked first in the nation for gonorrhea and fourth for chlamydia, she said.The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is not involved in the Milwaukee investigation, reported the highest-ever number of sexually transmitted diseases in America in September in its annual Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance Report.Americans were infected with more than 2 million new cases of gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia in 2016, the most recent data available, the CDC reported.Syphilis has been out of the spotlight for decades, and many physicians don't have it on their radar, according to the CDC. It is also likely that many doctors have not been trained in STDs since medical school.Additionally, in recent years, more than half of state and local STD programs have experienced budget cuts, resulting in staff layoffs, reduced STD clinic hours and increased patient copays, according to the CDC, all of which could be contributing factors to the rise in STDs.Another concern in Milwaukee: Late last year, the city health department identified 76 connected people who tested positive for HIV, syphilis or both, Hagy reported. 2890

More members of the migrant caravan walked through the streets of Tijuana Tuesday morning, this time heading to the U.S. Consulate instead of the border.The group reached their destination at around 11 a.m. after a nearly two-hour trek. The migrants, who had police escorts, made it clear their intentions were peaceful.The group members held various banners as they marched, including one that read: “You got it wrong, Trump. We asked for jobs and you responded with weapons. That is not polite. If asking for work is troublesome, then I am totally confused. La Caravana.”A source said the migrants dropped off a petition asking the consulate to allow everyone in the caravan entry into the U.S. The migrants requested a response within 72 hours.Additionally, the migrants said they want the U.S. government to provide ,000 for their trips back to their respective home countries if they aren't allowed asylum in the United States.After delivering the petition, the migrants returned to their shelters.It is unknown what the migrants plan to do if they do not receive a response within 72 hours.The migrants’ journey to the U.S. Consulate came as President Trump reinforced his desire to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.The president, during a Tuesday meeting in the Oval Office with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, said he was not afraid to shut down the federal governmentif billion in funding for border security was not approved.“I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck. (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after they say a 26-year-old was shot and killed, possibly after a previous fight at a different location, Tuesday afternoon in National City.Police say the shooting happened near a 7-Eleven on the 800 block of Eta Street around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
