CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A new adult care center is opening next month in Chula Vista. It's the first of its kind, replicating a 1950's town with storefronts and interactive activities.The nonprofit George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers is behind the new facility, called Glenner Town Square.The indoor, simulated urban environment uses reminiscence therapy to help those with Alzheimer's and dementia, bringing people back to a time where their memories are strongest.Glenner Center's Lisa Tyburski says while the memories experienced at the center don't last forever, they bring patients joy in the moment."They'll leave tired, they'll have had a good day," said Tyburski. "It helps in the evening with sleep, which of course will help with mood the next day."After an assessment with the facility, caregivers can drop off loved ones at the center.Services range from for a full day and per half day. The facility opens in April and will operate Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. 1029

Chili’s warned customers Friday about a possible payment card data breach at restaurants.The chain says malware was used to gather payment card information including credit or debit card numbers and cardholder names. Expiration dates and CVV codes on the back of cards may also have been accessed at certain Chili’s restaurants.The data were accessed between March and April of 2018, but Chili’s says a breach may have occurred on other dates.Chili’s said affected customers would have access to MyIDCare, a fraud resolution and credit monitoring service. (KGTV) - The Sweetwater Union High School District Board unanimously passed a revised and balanced budget for the 2018-2019 school year.It comes after they discovered a million accounting mistake. The budget did not take into account staff raises.The budget changes are a combination of spending freezes, furloughs, as well as money received from education grants and funds.The revised budget freezes several positions currently open.It also puts district officials on furlough days. “Based on your level of management we’re asking for different days there. So it’s a scale based on your positions. Our superintendent, for example, is gonna be doing ten furlough days this year,” Manny Rubio, a district spokesman, said.The district also worked with the unions, so teachers will give up two so-called ‘training days,’ which are paid, non-classroom days.The budget also touches on other cost-saving measures, including energy conservation strategies, consolidating summer school sites and cutting back on faculty travel expenses.The budget will head to the San Diego County Office of Education, which has until Nov. 8 to approve it. 1188

China’s government says all 9 million people in the eastern city of Qingdao will be tested for the coronavirus this week after nine cases linked to a hospital were found. The announcement broke a string of weeks without any locally transmitted infections reported in China, though the country has a practice of not reporting asymptomatic cases. The National Health Commission said authorities were investigating the source of the infections found in eight patients at Qingdao’s Municipal Chest Hospital and one family member. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Two girls were hit and injured by a pickup truck in Chula Vista Monday afternoon, officers said.The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. on East H Street at Terra Nova Drive, just east of Interstate 805. The location is near a shopping center with a Taco Bell and Jack in the Box, and Clear View Elementary School. Ambulances rushed the girls, who appeared to be teenagers, to Rady Children’s Hospital. They were both conscious, according to Chula Vista Police.The driver of the silver Toyota Tacoma who hit the girls stopped, police said. There was no immediate report that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.A witness told police the driver had the green light at the time of the crash.10News is monitoring breaking developments. 771
