BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- A senior discipline official on Friday expressed hope to promote cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in fighting corruption, to jointly safeguard fairness and justice.

He pointed out that 70 years later, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, had called the system "a new type of party system growing from China's soil," which opened a new chapter for the development of multiparty cooperation in the new era.

Leading officials of the Party, the national legislature, the cabinet, the top political advisory body, and the military were present at Monday's conference.

"The Chinese government attaches importance to its ties with Trinidad and Tobago," Li said, noting that "China is willing to work with Trinidad and Tobago to consolidate political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs to lift bilateral relations to a new high."

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.
