at Detroit Metropolitan Airport's McNamara Terminal Friday morning.According to an airport spokesperson, the incident happened at 6:30 a.m. local time. The man walked up to a checkpoint at the McNamara Terminal and removed his clothing. He then disconnected a stanchion at the checkpoint and approached a metal detector. The TSA officers didn't allow the man through the detector.Shameka Scott was traveling to Atlanta when she heard commotion and turned to see the naked man running past security.Scott says the man veered around the detector and made it to where TSA agents screen the bags after people walk through the detectors."I’m just shocked he got that far through TSA," she said. "I’m just grateful he did ‘t have a bomb or anything like that. I could have been seriously hurt."The Wayne County Airport Authority's police and fire departments responded to the scene and determined that the man did not pose a threat.Scott said TSA agents attempted to cover him with garbage bags and the man was very nonchalant and compliant. The man was then transported to a local hospital. This story was originally published by 1123

It's much bigger and customizable. Brannen uses foot pedals to give his hands a break. Leif Nelson, who runs the National Veterans Sports Programs for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, thinks the controller is about more than just gaming. “It’s allowing veterans to connect with each other and, you know, it’s also allowing folks to be able to connect with their friends and their families,” Nelson said.“Once they get in the groove, it’s really cool to see them getting in the flow,” said Colleen Virzi, who is a recreation therapist at the VA. She works with Brannen and other veterans. Sometimes her job means “training” vets on how to use the controller. “Their disability kind of goes away and they’re able to play just like their peers," Virzi said. “You have the ability to sort of rekindle the camaraderie. There’s trash talking involved, there’s competition involved and these sorts of things are what drive us, we’re finding it’s something that drives our veterans,” Nelson said. The controller gives Brannen an avenue to strengthen his relationship with his son. He hopes they have a lot more gaming to do. 1129

of an extremely rare yellow northern cardinal.Tracy Workman, who teaches art for a homeschooling organization, said on Facebook she came out her front door in Port St. Lucie and spotted the cardinal on her bird feeder.Workman said the bird lingered for about five minutes, just long enough for her to snap a few pictures.Workman also recorded some video of the cardinal, whom she appropriately named Sunny, and posted it on YouTube.?? Within hours of the school shooting in Broward County, Florida, computer experts discovered pro and anti-gun control tweets that appear to be linked to Russian bots.A bot is a computer program written to execute a series of commands that can, for example, post many tweets across many accounts nearly instantly. Some posts discovered by computer experts, and highlighted in stories on tech websites and The New York Times, were pro-gun control. Others were in support of gun rights. Experts familiar with the M.O. of other countries' fake tweets say taking sides isn't the point."I think disruption is really what they are going for. I think anytime that you can throw doubt or cast doubt and chaos into -- not just a nation -- but an ideological structure," said Sam Jay, a Metropolitan State University of Denver professor of Rhetoric.Jay said countries who post fake tweets in numbers such as those seen after the shooting in Florida like it when Americans are confused."Then it's quite easier to manipulate a much larger decision-making process such as elections," Jay said.Twitter found and removed thousands of fake accounts after the 2016 presidential election, the company said. Facebook turned over some 3,000 fake ads to Congress."So essentially what any person can do, a program (bot) can do. And of course the programs can do it so much more rapidly and have a much wider spread," said MSU Denver Computer Science professor Steve Beaty.Bots were also active during the controversy surrounding NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality.Bots posted tweets using opposing hash tags like #boycottnfl or #takeaknee.Beaty said computer science researchers estimate 10 percent of tweets posted are not from real people or don't contain real information. On the low end, it’s estimated 6,000 tweets are sent every second. That works out to half a billion a day.Doing the math means there are more than 51 million fake tweets every day "A Twitter bot won't go through a web page. It won't actually go through Twitter's own application. It will go directly to the software behind Twitter," Beaty said.Beaty said determining what is a fake tweet or a tweet from an account that isn't a real person isn't impossible."See what else they posted. See how long they've been on. Often these Twitter bots have been on for a very short amount of time. They've been on for a day or two and then all of a sudden they've sent out a million things," he said.It is against Twitter and Facebook's policy to create fake accounts and both companies have pledged to crack down.Twitter said on Wednesday it was implementing additional changes.Twitter will ban users from simultaneously posting "identical or substantially similar content to multiple accounts."Users also will not be allowed to like, retweet or follow from several accounts at the same time, the company said. 2938

“I’ve filmed in at least 40 countries; I’ve traveled to 60,” Colburn said. She’s a San Diego native, but she now lives in Istria, Croatia – a place not too far from Italy. When the global coronavirus craziness started in early March, her schedule – which is usually planned a year in advance – was changing by the day. “Things were starting to get canceled left and right," Colburn said. "I had no more projects. And then I remember waking up one morning and I had a text from my mom and it was right after the travel ban was mentioned from Europe and so it was kind of a sudden shock – wait do I come home, is everything going to get canceled – there was just so much unknown. But I didn’t want to get trapped doing nothing in an apartment in Europe where you can’t leave, you know, because this is what was happening in Italy.” So, she flew home to California and isolated herself with family. Normally at this time she’d be traveling from one country to the next filming TV shows, but like the rest of the world, Ashley has been forced to stay put and shelter-in-place. She’s now been in San Diego for 10 weeks and counting. “I’m always on the move. And so, I will say that there are always those to-do lists.” Since her travel itch hasn’t gone away, she feels like it’s her responsibility to keep people connected to the rest of the world when they can’t travel. “We just have to be creative now as travelers and come up with other ways of sharing the world with people and inspiring them to still travel one day,” Colburn said. She’s inspiring people through 1568
