Faculty members at Lehigh University have voted overwhelmingly in favor of rescinding President Donald Trump's honorary degree.Trump was presented with the honorary degree in 1988, when he was chosen by the graduating class as commencement speaker. It was standard for all commencement speakers to be given honorary diplomas at that time, Lehigh spokesperson Lori Friedman told CNN.More than 80% of voting-eligible faculty affirmed the?motion asking that the Pennsylvania college's Board of Trustees revoke the honor. Only 14% voted against the motion. It will now be conveyed to the board, according to Faculty Steering Committee Chair Doug Mahoney.Dr. Michael Raposa, who helped to draft the motion, told CNN that it was intended to reflect that faculty members "don't want Lehigh to be identified with the kind of sexist, racist, and Islamophobic utterances" he says the President has made. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - The recent birth of a southern white rhino calf marks a major success milestone in the project to save the species' close genetic cousin, the northern white rhino. Only two northern whites are left in the world. Both are females incapable of reproducing.Edward, the calf born in late July, was conveived through in vitro fertilization using frozen sperm samples. "It was so exciting for everyone who worked on this project, the culmination of a very long time and a lot of work," said Dr. Barbara Durrant, a scientist who has worked on the in vitro aspect of the project.Still, Durrant says this milestone still comes during the early stage of the audacious plan. Scientists eventually hope to create northern white embryos with stem cells. Those embryos would then be transferred into female southern white rhinos, who would deliver and raise the calves. The Safari Park brought six females to its facility to act as surrogates, including Victoria, the female who gave birth to Edward.Durrant is excited to move to the next step."We're turning our efforts more toward the lab, toward figuring out how to do the in vitro fertilization and the embryo development.Durrant estimates as long as ten years until the project finally leads to a living northern white rhino calf.Edward is currently being kept in a part of the Safari Park to which the public does not have access. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man died after falling off a cliff in Escondido Thursday afternoon. Emergency crews were called to the 16000 block of Highland Valley Road late Thursday afternoon after reports of the man dangling more than 50 feet off the side of a cliff. The man was identified Friday as 75-year-old John David Bittner of Julian.Cal Fire says Bittner was working to replace batteries on wildlife cameras when the accident occurred. He was with a friend rappelling down a cliff in Brady Canyon with suffered a fall and yelled for help to his friend.RELATED: Local ill woman among those claiming they were misled by hydrogen water companyCrews were able to recover Bittner using a helicopter, but he enterted cardiopulmonary arrest and died at the scene, Cal Fire and the county Medical Examiner said.CalFire attempted to rescue a climber in remote Escondido who was replacing batteries on wildlife cameras.
