Gina Austin could not take seeing the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. She packed up kayaks, jet skis and supplies and headed to Texas where she helped save people and pets. Austin makes it sound simple. But she was elbow deep in devastation for a week. Her first rescue was a tiny one."We found a little Chihuahua and we were calling her baby girl," she said, noting that she worked with a rescue group to help save thousands of animals. "People had chained their animals up so we actually had to go in with bolt cutters. There were dogs just clinging to cars..."At one point, Austin said she saw a family in a steel boat paddling toward her with shovels. "And they asked… did anybody see a little Chihuahua?" School is back in session at Ohio State University. However, more than 200 students aren't returning to the classroom just yet after they were suspended for violating the school's new coronavirus pandemic policy.Ohio State leaders say 228 students broke campus guidelines about social gatherings since returning to campus.Students began moving back to the Columbus campus on Aug. 19. Upon their return, the university told students they needed to wear masks, practice social distancing and limit their get-togethers to no more than 10 people.There's no word on how long the students' suspensions will last, but school leaders hope it will show others how serious they are about controlling the spread of COVID-19 on campus.Several other large universities across the country have been forced to suspend classes after large outbreaks of the virus on campus. Notre Dame shifted to remote learning after 150 students tested positive for COVID-19 after a week on campus. San Francisco may be the next U.S. city to allow 16- and 17-year-olds to vote. Residents will vote on the matter this November.If the measure is passed, the young people would be able to participate in local elections, which usually don't have high turnout.“They've seen that by extending voting rights to people of that age, they've actually increased the level of interest and attention in local politics, not only in those who are newly able to vote, but among their parents and their communities as well,” said Brandon Klugman, Vote 16 Campaign Manager at Generation Citizen.Critics question if teens are mature enough and educated enough to vote.Researchers in Austria, where the national voting age starts at 16, found teens are not likely to be less educated or less motivated to participate in voting.The campaign Vote 16 USA says teens are not likely to make rushed or stressed decisions when it comes to voting.They say teens are more likely to be in a stable environment, where they're surrounded by family, peers, and educators.“In a stable environment, it's great to establish the habit of voting, whereas at 18 on the other hand, most folks are in some sort of intense transition, whether that's joining the workforce, starting college, moving away from home, or going after some sort of transition,” said Klugman.Advocates say this will help in creating a life-long habit of voting.Oakland, California, is considering a similar measure, but it would only allow young voters to participate in school board elections.Several cities in Massachusetts and Maryland have passed similar measures. (KGTV) -- A San Marcos man had to rush his small dog to the hospital after the animal was bitten by a rattlesnake that somehow managed to get into the home.Ross Margolin says he came home to feed his five dogs when he heard the dogs in the other room barking at something.When he walked into the kitchen, he says he heard the unmistakable rattle. Margolin quickly called a company that specialized in getting snakes out of the house.The man who came to collect the rattlesnake was able to quickly get the two and a half foot long reptile out of the home. Margolin says he later noticed one of his dogs was bitten by the snake.Fortunately, Margolin says his dog quickly recovered after being rushed to the animal hospital for treatment. Margolin says the snake was able to get into the home through an open sliding door.  857
