SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — About an hour east of San Diego is a town with few people and a lot of history."In 1880 you'd be getting run over by wagons sitting right here in this little route," Larry Johnson, president of the Mountain Empire Historical Society, says standing on a road in Campo. "I initially came here in 1956."And like many others they come here for a reason.Robert Marks, who owns East County Lumber & Ranch Supply, learned Campo was for sale last week. "We found out the owner was selling all 3 parcels, maybe he won it in a card game!" Marks jokes.While we can't verify that, the current owner of Campo is a Las Vegas investor. He's looking to sell but hasn't named a price.The sale encompasses 28 residential units and seven commercial properties. About 100 to 150 people live in the listing area and about 3,000 are scattered across the whole town. Listing agent Conor Brennan with Marcus & Millichap says interested parties include rehabbers, developers, horse breeders, and movie producers."My reaction is if he sells it I hope we get someone who wants to put something in this community," Marks says."Personally I don't want big housing developments, I'm not for that," Johnson adds.But it wasn't too long ago the town was looking for another buyer in 1999. Since then, things have largely remained the same."We like it country, we like to have a few new people join us and keep population increasing a little," Johnson says.But residents of Campo want potential buyers to know this is: "It's awesome. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  It was a normal Thursday night for Rob Perelman. His Uber app was on and he was picking up passengers in San Diego. Then suddenly, things changed and his passengers got violent. You may have seen the video by now - a car crashing in Banker's Hill after the passengers began violently beating the driver.RELATED: Uber driver attacked by drunk passengersFriday, Perelman spoke for the first time about his early-morning attack. He told 10News what happened Friday morning isn't an Uber problem - they were just bad apples. "I've done 4,999 rides with good people," Perelman said. "And one with a bad person."Perelman gave that bad ride sometime after 1:00 a.m. Friday. He picked up the passengers in Banker's Hill and almost immediately realized they were drunk. "My gut feeling said to drive away," he said. "But I'm here to give people rides home, and I said you know what, 'we've all been the drunk guy just trying to get home from the bar, let me give these guys a ride home.'"MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodHe only made it two blocks. "The guy in the back seat starts puking out the window...and if he can't make it two blocks, he's definitely not going to make it 10 minutes," Perelman said. So he pulled over and asked the two to get out of his car. He told 10News that he even tried opening the door for one of them."Still nothing happening, so I say a third time, 'get out of the vehicle or I'm calling 911,'" Perelman said. That's when things got dangerous, and the passenger next to him attacked with a fury of punches."And he's not stopping, he's just beyond the point now," Perelman said. "Probably doesn't know what he's doing, just starts throwing punches at my head, I can't get him to stop. I've got my glasses on, he knocks my glasses off."Perelman says he was left with two options. Take the beating or jump out of the car. He took option two, jumping out of the car while it was still in drive and running to a nearby house to call the police.After the car crashed, the passengers seemed to have a moment of clarity and took off. Perelman says he left behind a shoe, a cell phone and ,000 dollars in damages to his car.Even though he had a bad experience, Perelman says he just wants to get back on the road. "I'm just happy that I was able to get out safely and I've got a few bruises on my head, but I was able to walk away, so I'm lucky that it didn't escalate," Perelman said. "I don't know if he has a gun or knife, I just said let me get out of the car I don't care about the vehicle right now."Since Uber knows who the men are, the plan now is to find them and press charges.10News reached out to Uber about the attack. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Bald Eagle admitted to the San Diego Humane Society on Fourth of July died Tuesday, the organization said.According to the Humane Society, the eagle passed away after being sedated and anesthetized for an examination. SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) -- A San Diego County deputy facing charges that he groped 13 women was arrested again Thursday on five new charges, including forcible oral copulation.Richard Fischer, 32, is being held on million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in a Vista courtroom.Fischer faces more than 10 years if convicted on the new charges, according to the District Attorney. Fischer is already facing 14 years and eight months behind bars if convicted on previously filed charges.RELATED: San Diego deputy accused by multiple women of sexual assault speaks publiclyIn July, Fischer, accompanied by his attorney, spoke out for the first time about the accusations."These charges are simply untrue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A group of Hillcrest residents are fighting a proposed housing tower they say would take the sunshine out of their neighborhood and add traffic. Greystar Development wants to build a seven-story, 111 unit mixed-use housing complex near 7th and Robinson, not far from Whole Foods. The complex would replace the parking lot AT&T employees currently use for the company's building across the street. The lot borders a neighborhood filled with Spanish-style homes. The city gave Greystar a density bonus because it includes nine very low-income units. It also determined the developer would not have to do a costly and time-consuming environmental impact report."Housing, housing, housing is the only thing they're going to consider. And they're not going to consider the impact on the neighborhood that's there," said Tom Mullaney, who heads a group called Uptown United, which is appealing the project. Uptown United is fighting the city's determination that Greystar doesn't have to do an environmental impact report. That goes before the City Council April 23.Mullaney said Uptown United also wants the project scaled back. Jim Ivory, Greystar's senior director of development, said in a statement that company included community input in designing the project, which has the backing of the city's Uptown Community Planning group."We are proud of the design that has evolved in the last 18 months," he said. "Staff and community input has been incorporated along the way for the betterment of the project."Some in the neighborhood also welcome the project. Herbert Ross, who lives down the street, says the AT&T lot has become a public nuisance."The hangout that it's become for people who are homeless who don't clean up after themselves, I think anything would be an improvement to the area," he said. But Michael Bayless says the project would take away the direct sunlight he gets in his home office."I just came from Seattle to escape the lack of sun," he said. "It would be depressing."Greystar's development would also include retail at street level, and a 190 spot parking garage.
