SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Homicide detectives are investigating after a man died in Hillcrest early Sunday morning. According to Lieutenant Anthony Dupree, a passerby was walking near Albert Street and Upas Street around 5:30 a.m. when he saw a man with trauma to his body and called police. The passerby performed life-saving efforts on the man before paramedics arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Dupree said. According to police, the man was between the ages of 25 and 30, but his identity is unknown at this time. Dupree said detectives are going door-to-door in the area to find out if anyone heard anything. 635

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Five people were injured following a crash in Kearny Mesa involving an ambulance Thursday afternoon. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the crash happened around 2:15 near Kearny Villa Road and Balboa Avenue. According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of an Infinity was speeding in a northbound lane on Kearny Villa Road when he crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting the ambulance and shoving a Hyundai to the side of the road. The driver of the infinity suffered non-life threatening injuries while his passenger suffered several broken bones and internal injuries considered life threatening. The driver and passenger of the ambulance and driver of the Hyundai all suffered non-life threatening injuries. Everyone involved in the crash was taken to the hospital, police say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Demonstrators gathered across the county to demonstrate against police violence ahead of several expected protests during the weekend.Events in Carlsbad and Escondido brought demonstrators to street corners and parks with signs and cries for action, in response to police killings of black men sparked after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Similar events were also planned for Oceanside and San Diego.Friday's gatherings mark about a week of daily protests calling for police reform around the county. This week, some of those reforms materialized in moves by local departments to end the use of the carotid restraint technique. City Council President Georgette Gomez also called for leaders to docket a ballot measure to expand police oversight and create an independent police practices commission this month.This weekend, demonstrations planned for San Diego, Chula Vista, Santee, and Encinitas are expected to continue calls for reform and show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. 1034
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Hundreds of men in high heels strutted through downtown San Diego on Saturday morning to support victims of domestic violence.The 11th annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event started with the mile walk and ended with a family festival featuring face painting, live music and more.“It is a lighthearted way to bring awareness to domestic violence,” said Heather Frinlay, the Chief Operating Officer of the YWCA of San Diego County. The morning of family fun raised money for programs that provide victims of domestic violence resources like housing, counseling, and legal aid.“This is not a private issue; this is a community issue,” said Frinlay. “We still have one in four women, and now one in seven men experiencing domestic violence in their lifetimes.”San Diego County reported more than 17,000 incidents of domestic violence in 2017. 871
