SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the public for help identifying the person they believe stabbed a man to death in Pacific Beach last week.Police say the suspect was engaged in a fight with a 55-year-old man outside the 7-Eleven store at 4340 Mission Boulevard, when he stabbed the victim several times. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the scene.Surveillance footage of the suspect was released this week. The suspect is described as a 20- to 30-year-old black male, about 5'8" to 5'10" tall, and was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and a black hat at the time of the stabbing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are asking for the public’s help locating a man suspected of threatening a Target employee with a razor during a robbery.Police say the incident happened around 10 a.m. on March 25 at the Target on the 1200 block of Camino Del Rio North.According to police, a loss prevention officer noticed a man inside the store he recognized from previous encounters.Police say the man grabbed three memory cards and attempted to remove them from their cases.After removing one of the memory cards and placing it in his pocket, the man was confronted by the officer who followed him to the exit.The suspect then threatened the officer with a folding razor knife he removed from his waistband.The suspect is described as a six-foot tall 28-year-old white male wearing a tan colored long-sleeve dress shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2299. 951

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego business leaders reacted with alarm to President Trump's plan to slap tariffs on goods imported from Mexico.On June 10, the President plans to place a 5% tariff on items like avocados, tomatoes, cars and medical devices that come from south of the border. They would increase until reaching 25% on Oct 1. Trump says the tariffs would continue until Mexico addresses the issue of migrants at the border. The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce has come out strong against the tariffs. The Chamber says Mexico is San Diego's biggest trade partner, with a .5 billion manufacturing supply chain that's now at risk. Jerry Sanders, the chamber's CEO, says every manufacturing job in Tijuana leads to half a new job in San Diego. "If consumers cut back because of the price of goods, that means there will be fewer jobs and there will be less production on both sides of the border," he said. Some consumers already appear wary. Mancher Nasar, who lives in Rancho Bernardo, said he expects his grocery bill to rise as the tariffs kick in. "I'm concerned about middle class families," he said. "You're putting a 25% tariff but you're not getting 25% more in your paycheck."University of San Diego economist Alan Gin said tariffs are normally used for economic purposes, not political ones. "This is as far out as we've ever seen in the use of tariffs," Gin said. Gin said San Diegans will feel them, but that states like Texas and New Mexico will fare worse. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Padres players and city leaders surprised more than 140 elementary school students with new bicycles Friday.As part of the Padres Holiday Giving Tour, the team partnered with Bikes for Kids Foundation to gift 141 students at Horton Elementary School. At first, the group of second- and third-grade students thought they were gathered to learn which student had won a bicycle after an essay challenge. One name was read. But then a second student won. A third student had their name read.Just when the streak seemed to come alive, chants of "one more bike" broke out among the students. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Recent changes at the border are being felt as President Trump considers a total border shutdown to combat the immigration crisis. Customs and Border Protection officials announced the reduction of the commercial lanes at Otay Mesa from 10 lanes to 8 Tuesday. “4 to 5 hours,” said one driver who added another man in his fleet took more than 6 hours to make it across Wednesday. Companies say drivers are missing deadlines or just skipping the day altogether to avoid the delays. “They lose millions,” said driver Benjamin Alfaro on the already cumbersome process taking even longer, “so if they don’t do that in the normal time of course they lose money.
