Actor Rick Moranis was punched in the head, knocking him to the ground, in an unprovoked attack on Manhattan's Upper West Side, officials said Friday.New York City police confirmed a 67-year-old man was walking south on Central Park West near West 70th Street when an unidentified man hit him in the head with a closed fist Thursday around 7:24 a.m.Surveillance images of a person suspected of the attack were released by police. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- The owner of a popular iron horse statue in Alpine believes a lot of planning went into stealing it. Rita Gallant says the iron horse was taken in the middle of the night. The statue stood 14-feet tall and weighed approximately 300 pounds. Gallant says she didn’t notice it was gone until days later, so she checked her surveillance tapes. “We believe they came in over the course of a couple of days. They had to remove some very large rebar wire that was in it that’s right here. So we had four of these that were in it to secure it to the ground,” Gallant said. Gallant says she bought the statue 15 years ago and set it up at her store, Double S Tack and Feed. Since then, the statue had become something of an icon in the neighborhood. 774

A Wisconsin woman's death was possibly caused by an infection from a dog lick, the same infection that is plaguing one West Bend, Wisc. man. Earlier this month Greg Manteufel developed a similar infection, resulting in the amputation of his hands and legs. Doctors believe it was from a bacteria transferred to him when a dog licked him. Sharon Larson had just gotten a puppy. It nipped at her, causing a minor cut. A day after taking him to the vet for a check-up, Larson was rushed to the hospital. “I was told she could get struck by lightning four times and live, win the lottery twice,” said Sharon’s husband Dan Larson. “That’s how rare this is supposed to be."Dan Larson is still in shock. He thought she had the flu.“General antibiotics that they put her on didn’t do anything,” he said. Within two days at Wheaton Franciscan in Franklin, Sharon Larson was dead, at 58-years-old. “I feel like I got robbed. Lost my right arm. My best friend,” Dan Larson said. Doctors told him she tested positive for capnocytophaga. They say the bacteria, found in the saliva of most dogs, cats, even some humans, is rarely problematic and almost never deadly. But when certain people come in contact with it, it can have devastating consequences, like for Sharon. “I had no knowledge,” said Sharon’s son Steven Larson.Sharon’s son wants more answers since there is no real tracking of how many cases there have been.“What do you want people to know? After a dramatic lead-up, the House of Representatives failed to pass a massive farm bill as Republicans were unable to shore up support from some of their conservative members amid an ongoing party fight on immigration, despite Republican leaders' confident predictions it would pass just minutes before.The vote was 198-213.While Republican leaders said they were confident ahead of the vote, it was clear the bill was in jeopardy, and members of leadership could be seen on the floor holding last-minute negotiations.Complicating matters was a threat by conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus to withhold their support as they sought to get their desired outcome on an unrelated issue involving immigration. Close to 30 Republicans voted against the bill.Democrats, meanwhile, rejected the farm bill out of opposition to stricter work requirements in the food stamps program, formally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.The deadline to pass a farm bill is September 30.Republicans want to require more people to work in order to receive the benefits, extending the mandate to parents of school-age children and to those in their 50s.That's the main reason why Democrats are rejecting the bill. They worry the new requirements will prove too onerous for some of the very beneficiaries in need of the assistance. Those who fail to work or enroll in job training could be locked out for up to three years.President Donald Trump voiced support for the bill Thursday in a tweet."Tomorrow, the House will vote on a strong Farm Bill, which includes work requirements.
