SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Voters in one San Francisco Bay Area county will decide whether to remove a judge from office for sentencing a former Stanford University swimmer to a short jail sentence for sexual assault in a case that sparked national outrage months before the Me Too movement took off.The effort to recall Santa Clara County Judge Aaron Persky is being closely watched for its national political implications. SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) - Dozens of migrants filled out paperwork in Tijuana, getting ready to file for asylum ahead of the caravan.The Mexican city already flooded with migrants waiting for their turn to be processed at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.Lilia Velasquez, an Immigration Specialist and Lawyer, said the process could take months or even years. First, she said a group of about 10 migrants get a number. When they're called, they are processed and detained.It could take months to get to that step, which is why a group is given the same number. Velasquez explained many decide not to go through the process, or to find another way over the border.Next an agent is assigned to their case and conducts a credible fear interview, determining whether the migrant falls under 5 classifications; facing persecution for religion, ethnicity, nationality, political opinion, or being a member of a special group.READ RELATED:?First group of migrants from caravan arrive in TijuanaThen, the migrants face a judge. Whether or not they are granted asylum, the migrants then face another judge on charges for entering the country as a foreign citizen. Other groups, like churches, help the migrants once they enter San Diego.One migrant mother who filled out the paperwork Friday morning said she is not afraid, she is filled with hope that they're almost across the border and she thinks it will be easy to get asylum with her son. Two thousand to 3,000 more migrants involved in the caravan are expected to arrive by the end of the weekend.The migrants who filled out paperwork consist of the LGBTQ group who split from the caravan due to discrimination, Central Americans and Mexicans seeking asylum. 1845

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Police in San Francisco made a horrifying discovery after a man was reported missing.According to KRON, police found the remains of a headless torso in a fish tank inside a San Francisco home.Neighbors hadn’t seen the homeowner in months and police were called to the home in July to do a wellness check, but men inside the home said the homeowner was simply on vacation.After returning to the house, police found the remains they say were so badly decomposed, they couldn't tell whether the victim was a man or a woman. One man was arrested in the case, but charges have yet to be filed. 626

(KGTV) - A grieving dog owner is searching for the owner of the dog who attacked her 8-year-old rescue at a Santee dog park.At Woodglen Vista Park late Monday morning, Heather Moreno, her 3-year-old daughter and her Pomeranian mix had just walked into the fenced-in off-leash area when they were greeted by a dog. Moreno says the black dog was about 70 pounds, possibly a German Shepard mix."Immediately the owner of the big dog approaches me and shouts, 'Don't worry, he's friendly.' The tail was wagging. My daughter petted him. Our dogs were sniffing each other,said Moreno.Moreno says she was glancing between her dog, Trigger, and her daughter. "Next thing I know, my dog is whining, and he has my dog in his mouth ... thrashing around like a dog toy," said Moreno.The attack would last an agonizing 30 seconds."I'm in panic mode. I'm shouting at the dog, shouting at the dog owner," said Moreno.The dog owner eventually pried open his dog's jaws. Moreno rushing Trigger to an emergency animal hospital, where she died from her wounds on the operating table. "I miss her a lot. She was my companion with everything," said Moreno, choking back tears.Amid the grief, Moreno has a warning for other dog owners at dog parks. "Just always be vigilant. Always be cautious.
