SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A European carrier is hoping to transform the way Southern California travels between major cities.FlixBus will start offering service to 10 Southern California cities, including in San Diego, beginning May 31. The service, which has operated within Europe since 2013, is hoping to carve out a presence with discounted ticket prices and some high-tech additions.For a limited time, travelers can snag fares from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for as low as on select dates throughout June, according to the service's website. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A driver heading the wrong-way on Interstate 805 died following a fiery crash with another vehicle Saturday.A Mitsubishi Lancer traveling the wrong-way on southbound I-805 near the I-8 connector collided with a Toyota SUV just before 3 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol. The collision sparked a fire, engulfing both vehicles, CHP said.Both drivers were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to California Highway Patrol. The wrong-way driver later died. Another vehicle received minor damages in the wreck. That driver received minor injuries.CHP was still investigating where the wrong-way driver entered the freeway. It's not clear if alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash.A portion of I-805 was closed as crews cleared the scene, but was reopened before 7 a.m. Saturday. 855

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A former San Diego Kaiser doctor who was caught watching child porn at work will have his license reinstated.The news of the reinstatement became available this week, in documents provided by the California Medical Board.Former psychiatrist Mark Zweifach went in front of the board three weeks ago for a hearing on reinstating his license. A video of the hearing recently became available to the public.For the first time on-camera, Zweifach describes his own shocking acts that still haunt him.LONGFORM: Former San Diego Kaiser doctor caught watching child porn at work tries to get his license back“Eleven years ago, on three occasions, I briefly viewed child pornography at my workplace,” he said.It was more than a decade ago that the admitted sex addict turned in his white coat, but the District Attorney's office didn't have enough evidence to bring criminal charges.California Medical Board paperwork reveals that the alarming discovery was made at a Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in El Cajon. Some of the paperwork reads, "While at work, on his Kaiser-issued computer, [he] viewed inappropriate images, including child pornography."“I didn't collect it. I didn't produce it. The day after 10News reached out, his name was removed.Documents outline his road to rehabilitation, like a 12-step “Sexaholics Anonymous” program and “regular therapy.”During his recent hearing, he describes having confronted whatever happened to him as a kid that apparently made him vulnerable to addiction.“I did have a history of being exposed to childhood sexual experiences that profoundly affected me,” he explains.Zweifach also told the board that he’s had two relapses with viewing adult pornography, but it stopped there.“I thank God that in the last eleven years, I’ve been entirely free of viewing the underage images that led to the loss of my license,” he adds.Zweifach has expressed a great deal of remorse for his actions.His license will officially be reinstated on September 14th.Zweifach will be on five years of probation which includes a number of stipulations, including not treating minors. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody after his 53-year-old mother was found dead Monday evening in the College West neighborhood. Officers were called to the 4800 block of Collwood Boulevard around 4:40 p.m. Monday night after receiving reports of a deceased person inside a home. According to San Diego Police, family members tried to contact the 53-year-old woman who lived inside, but had not been able to contact her for several days.When officers entered the home, they found the woman dead.“Information provided by family members led to the 25 year-old son being located at an area hospital where he was receiving treatment for injuries he sustained to his hands,” police said.The man has been taken into custody and will be transported to headquarters for processing as a possible suspect, police said. 846
