SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Puerto Rico's governor says she will reopen beaches, casinos, gyms and movie theaters across the U.S. territory as officials report a recent drop in COVID-19 cases and deaths that some experts worried would once again spike.The changes announced Thursday will go into effect from Sept. 12 until Oct. 2. SAN MARCOS (CNS) -- A young man was killed in a solo-vehicle rollover crash down an embankment near a San Marcos school, authorities said Tuesday.The crash was reported around 6:40 p.m. Monday on Schoolhouse Way, east of Elfin Forest Road near San Elijo Middle School, San Diego County Sheriff's Sgt. Charles Morreale said.Investigators determined a 19-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet pickup southbound on Schoolhouse Way at high speed when he lost control of the truck, struck a curb and the vehicle overturned down an embankment, Morreale said.The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the sergeant said. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man has been taken into custody following a carjacking Friday afternoon in Santee, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The incident started on the 9800 block of Mission Gorge Road around 1 p.m. when the suspect reportedly threatened to kill a 77-year-old woman and her family before hitting her, removing her from the car, and driving away with her purse and cell phone.Sheriff's deputies and La Mesa Police later found the suspect, Chris DiSalvo, 30, sitting in the stolen car on the 4600 block of Palm Drive in La Mesa. When he saw law enforcement, the department says he took off, crashing into a tree and running into a nearby apartment complex.DiSalvo was later found hiding in a stairwell and was arrested, the department says.According to authorities, DiSalvo admitted to taking drugs. He was given a dose of Naloxone and taken to the hospital.Upon his release from the medical facility, the department says he will be booked on several felony charges, including carjacking. 1035

Scientists are tracking an object heading toward earth that could enter the planet’s orbit, and they are not entirely sure what it is.The object, named Asteroid 2020 SO, is believed to be man made and not a piece of moon or other planetary debris."I suspect this newly discovered object 2020 SO to be an old rocket booster because it is following an orbit about the Sun that is extremely similar to Earth's, nearly circular, in the same plane, and only slightly farther away (than) the Sun at its farthest point," Dr. Paul Chodas, the director of NASA’s Center for Near Earth Object Studies, told CNN."That's precisely the kind of orbit that a rocket stage separated from a lunar mission would follow, once it passes by the Moon and escapes into orbit about the Sun. It's unlikely that an asteroid could have evolved into an orbit like this, but not impossible,” Dr. Chodas continued.Other publications believe the object could be from Surveyor 2, which was launched in September 1966.Scientists are estimating 2020 SO will enter earth’s orbit in November 2020, then pass by earth at a distance of roughly 30,000 miles in December, before heading back out to space in early 2021.For perspective, commercial planes fly at an altitude of about 7 miles on average.There is no danger to earth posed by 2020 SO, but its slow speed and relatively close pass-by, means scientists can study it. Over the phone, a Costco employee in Santee told 10News that more than 1,500 seniors showed up on Tuesday and the store hasn't been that busy since Christmas or Thanksgiving.
