The Harvard Global Health Institute released an interactive map in July that shows the risk of contracting the coronavirus based on daily new cases per 100,000 people. At the time the map was released, three states were in the red. As of Monday, that number has since increased to 13.According to Harvard, the 13 states represent ones where full stay-at-home orders are necessary, while an additional 23 should consider them.The map has four colors – green, yellow, orange and red – to demonstrate the risk by county and state. The map shows 13 states – North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, Utah, Missouri, Idaho, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Nebraska and Wyoming – in the red for where infections are high.“If you look at the map with the color coding of cases and states that are going up, you see states in the Northwest and the Midwest, it's going in the wrong direction right now,” Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Monday. “So, if there's anything we should be doing, we should be doubling down in implementing the public health measures that we have been talking about for so long, which are keeping a distance, no crowds, wearing masks, washing hands, doing things outside, as opposed to inside, in order to get those numbers down.”As these states start to get colder, Fauci is concerned the virus will become even trickier to contain.“We're entering into the cool months of the fall and ultimately the cold months of the winter,” Fauci said. “And that's just a recipe of a real problem, if we don't get things under control before we get into that seasonal challenge."According to the Harvard Global Health Institute, when areas are shaded red, stay-at-home orders become necessary.Unlike Harvard’s recommendations, Fauci says that shutdowns can be avoided.“I think people think that, when we talk about public health, that we're talking about shutting down,” Fauci said. “Let's get that off the table. We are not talking about shutting down. We're talking about simple public health measures, as simple as they sound, are really quite effective. And that's what we say over and over again, universal wearing of masks, keep physical distance, above all, avoid crowds and congregate settings.”No states are in the green.Two states that were in the red early in the summer, Florida and Arizona, have dropped out of the red. Florida, now in the orange, is ranked No. 28 for most coronavirus infections. Arizona now is No. 38 in the US for COVID-19 infections.In general, the worst effects of the coronavirus have moved from the northeast in the spring to the south in the summer and to the upper Plains and Northern Rockies now in the fall.In North Dakota, there are currently 158 hospitalized “due to COVID,” and 233 hospitalized “with COVID.”A number of states, even those outside of the “red” areas, are seeing record numbers of cases. On Friday, Ohio set its record number of reported cases with 1,840. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a first-term Republican, expressed concern in a news conference last Friday.“We have it in our power to slow it down. I know everyone is tired, but we must learn to live with it. The Macy's at Herald Square boarded up its windows in anticipation of protests from the result of the presidential election. PIX11 News cameras saw workers boarding up along the famous storefront Friday evening.A spokesperson for Macy’s told PIX11 News on Saturday the windows were initially scheduled to be covered up next week."Our windows at Macy’s Herald Square were previously scheduled to be dark next week in set-up for our annual holiday displays. Out of an abundance of caution, we are implementing additional security measures at several of our stores,” the spokesperson said.A variety of Fifth Avenue stores also were boarded up on Friday afternoon, some as early as 9 a.m. Many Manhattan stores, including Macy's at Herald Square, were looted in the unrest following protests against the police custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.PIX11 News' James Ford also contributed to this story. 915

The latest release of documents related to the mass shooting on Oct. 1 contain a mixture of reports by police officers and witness statements.One of the reports contained in the release on Wednesday appears to be an interview with country singer Jason Aldean, who was performing when Stephen Paddock opened fire on music lovers at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.According to the statement, the person making the statement instructed officers to take himself, his bodyguard and pregnant wife to the airport. He then told the officer that he was on stage playing when he heard the first few pops. He said he was confused like everyone was and looked around, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.  The next large barrage of fire he said was so loud to him that it sounded as if someone was right next to the stage firing shots. The person making the statement then said he could see people in the audience dropping to the ground in "waves."  Someone backstage yelled out that it was gunfire and for him to get down. That's when he ran off the stage and went to protect his pregnant wife who was inside the tour bus that protected the perimeter until he was evacuated.The documents included what appears to be a written statement from Aldean."I was onstage singing and thought I heard fireworks. I turned to look at my monitor guy and saw my personal security guard running toward me and telling me to evacuate the stage. At that point, we layed (sic) on the stage and hid until we could get on my bus. We then stayed in the back of the bus for a few hours until police escorted us away." Another report appeared to be an interview with Dee Jay Silver, who had performed at the festival around 9 p.m. ahead of Aldean. After the shooting began, he was hiding in a tour bus. Silver then received a text asking what floor his 1-year-old son was on.The baby was sleeping down the hall on the 32nd floor -- the floor where shooter Stephen Paddock was located. That's when Silver found out the floor had been evacuated. Silver was taken to multiple places before he ended up at the Thomas & Mack. He eventually received a text that his son was at Town Square. After he was reunited with him Silver told police, "I just held him and held him and held him." Police also asked Silver if he had noticed any suspicious, staying on the same floor as the shooter. Silver did not recall seeing Paddock or speaking to him. But he also didn't see housekeeping during that time. Silver was moved to Delano after the shooting. A bike officer with Mandalay Bay described how he was headed towards the festival grounds when he heard that a Mandalay Bay officer was hit and decided to turn around.He commandeered an elevator, picked up an engineer, and headed to the 32nd floor.When he got there, he heard automatic gunfire coming from the end of the hall. According to the bike officer, that is when Jesus Campos came running towards him when the shooting paused. The bike officer says he inspected the wound and decided it didn't look very severe.Everything was kind of a blur after that but the bike officer said he helped police officers clear the rooms.One police officer who was at the scene describes how he and other police officers took cover behind a police car during the shooting. The officer says that multiple rounds hit the car and the rear window was shot out. One of the officers began yelling that he was hit and said he could not move his arm. Another officer grabbed the wounded officer and they left to seek medical attention.According to statement by several police officers, there was a lot of commotion and confusion the night of the shooting at several properties located near Mandalay Bay.Calls were received from Circus Circus, Tropicana, Bellagio, New York-New York and the Bellagio hotel-casino.In each case, police officers were unable to find another shooter. However, they did discover that the possible shooter at the Bellagio was actually the vice president of security. It appears that the VP decided to put on a tactical vest and arm himself and protect Bellagio if necessary.Many reports from officers describe how they were off duty at the time of the shooting but "self dispatched" when they began to hear what was happening. Several officers headed towards the Route 91 festival grounds while others headed to hospitals where victims were being assisted or even took it upon themselves to assist with traffic control. 4520

The grandmother of a missing 5-year-old Dickson, Tennessee boy said she has been cooperating with law enforcement after her stepson was arrested for his death.Belle Daniels spoke to Scripps station WTVF in Nashville the night several vigils were being held for her grandson, Joe Clyde Daniels."Right now, we’re feeling that it’s a nightmare, and we’re hoping to get closure soon," said Belle. The boy, who had autism and was nonverbal, was first reported missing by his parents the morning of April 4.Hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement agencies responded to help search for the boy, but on Saturday, the rescue search turned into a recovery effort.Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Dickson County Sheriff's Office said 28-year-old Joseph Daniels confessed to killing his son and hiding his body. “It’s shocking because you raise a child from way back, and you think you know him. You don’t think your child could kill his own baby," said Belle. Belle said she was with her husband in Texas because he is a truck driver. That's when they heard that their grandson disappeared.“When we found out about it, my heart just sunk. We didn’t know what was going on, and when they couldn’t get leads, I thought somebody abducted him," she added. She returned on Friday right before he was arrested for one count of criminal homicide. She said she doesn't know why her son would commit the alleged crime. “We’re doing the best we can do, and I want people to know from the bottom of my heart I appreciate everything that law enforcement, churches, and all of the media that has done for us," Belle said.On Sunday, a smaller group of search crews continued to search for the child's remains.Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe scaled back efforts to give crews much needed rest.He said the search will continue with local special response teams on Monday, and they will assess areas needing to be covered. 1966

The NFL has revealed some of its plans regarding Super Bowl LV in Tampa. The league is now planning for 20% capacity at the stadium, ESPN reports.Crowds at football games this year have been mixed, with some teams allowing limited fans and some not allowing any guests.ESPN's Adam Schefter also reports if a Week 18 is added to this regular season, the off week would be eliminated and Super Bowl LV would stay on February 7.Tampa is set to host the Super Bowl, and just last month the NFL said it was preparing for a full house.Thousands are also expected to attend events that week along the Riverwalk downtown.Tampa's Mayor Jane Castor said she had a meeting on Tuesday related to the Super Bowl and plans are in place for 16,000 to 70,000 fans and it will take more time to determine how many people will be allowed to attend."We’re going to put on the most spectacular Super Bowl ever under probably the most different circumstances ever, but this is Tampa and we do things big here so it will be safe and it will be spectacular," she added.The President and CEO of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce Kelly Flannery said in a statement, "The Super Bowl provides for a considerable economic boost for host cities and our local businesses will benefit from having Super Bowl 55 in Tampa in an incredible way."Rob Higgins with Tampa Bay Sports Commission said they are working closely with the NFL and local public health officials to determine what the capacity will be for the Super Bowl."It is not known at this time.
