(KGTV) — As a caravan of migrants from Honduras marches through Mexico, participants have said they are determined to press on to Tijuana.The caravan has also drawn daily discussions among U.S. leaders as to how to deal with the incoming group, who have said they plan to apply for asylum.It's not clear how close the caravan will be when Election Day rolls around on Nov. 6, but the group's journey is expected to play a large part in the elections.RELATED: As many as 15,000 troops to be deployed to borderThe caravan has said they fled Honduras because of the state of employment, quality of life, and the threat of crime they are faced with in the country — similar to a caravan which came to the U.S.-Mexico border in Tijuana in April.Here is a look at the caravan and actions by U.S. leaders since the group's journey began in October:Oct. 13 — Migrant caravan forms in the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula and begins to head north.Oct. 15 — The caravan arrives at the Guatemala-Honduran border, facing a blockade by local police for nearly two hours. Police eventually allowed the migrants to continue through after they refused to turn back. Oct. 16 — President Donald Trump tweets he's told Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, El Salvador, and Guatemala that "no more money or aid" will be given if they allow the caravan to continue to the United States.Oct. 19 — Migrants reach the Guatemala-Mexico border and begin to request asylum in Mexico.Oct. 20 — Battling sweltering heat while waiting to cross the border, some migrants begin to cross into Mexico using makeshift rafts to cross the Suchiate River and climbing over fences.Oct. 21 — Crowds of migrants continue their journey north from the Mexican border town of Ciudad Hidalgo. (KGTV) — A travel warning for Americans traveling to Mexico was issued Wednesday, ahead of the expected annual Spring Break travel rush.The alert, issued by the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico, warned U.S. citizens of a list possible dangers, including unregulated alcohol, sexual assault, medical emergencies, and breaking the law in Mexico."Each year, thousands of U.S. citizens visit Mexico during Spring Break. While the vast majority of travelers have safe and enjoyable trips, Spring Break travel can sometimes include unforeseen problems," the alert read.The alert recommended travelers check their health plans for coverage overseas or in Mexico, practice safe behavior when swimming at local beaches, drink responsibly and watch drinks at all times, stick close to friends, be aware when traveling around the country, and protect personal possessions.Anyone who needs assistance is encouraged to contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. 968

(CNN) -- Maui residents who evacuated their homes because of a wildfire are allowed to return, the County of Maui announced Friday on Facebook.But Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino cautioned that, "This fire is still an active threat to our community, and residents are urged to remain vigilant of changing conditions," in the same post.Firefighters will continue to monitor the blaze that has consumed an estimated 10,000 acres of fallow former sugar cane and dry brush, according the county.The fire was reported Thursday morning at 10:42 a.m. local time near the intersection of Waiko Road and Kuihelani Highway.The County of Maui activated its Emergency Operations Center in the morning. By afternoon, the flames were burning out of control and emergency officials sent a mobile alert warning nearby residents to evacuate.More than 600 people fled as the blaze scorched 3,000 acres, the mayor's office said. The Maui Humane Society moved its animals in crates and kennels to a nearby high school.Helicopters were grounded after sunset, and they are expected to return to making air drops after sunrise, according to a news release from the county.Oprah Winfrey has a home in the county, and tweeted a local resident to confirm that she's given officials fighting the fire access to her private road. "A big mahalo to Oprah for giving Maui County access to your private road for use to assist in the Maui fire," Hawaii Gov. (KGTV) — Disney officials say the company's California parks are prepared to reopen as soon as the state gives guidance for theme parks to open their doors.During a roundtable discussion with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday, Disney World’s chief operating officer Jim MacPhee said the California theme parks are "ready to roll" once they are given the chance to reopen.“Disneyland has been ready to roll since July awaiting guidance from the state's governor on what the reopening protocols will be,” said MacPhee.RELATED: SeaWorld San Diego prepares to reopen with Zoo Days eventOfficials from Universal Studios who were also at the roundtable echoed the same preparedness."We're awaiting our park in Hollywood, as with Disney and SeaWorld, with respect to the state of California and the governor and when we'll be able to reopen. Disneyland, California Adventure, and Universal Studios have all been shuttered since March due to the pandemic.
