The Southeastern Conference is considering barring league championship events in Mississippi unless the state changes its Confederate-based flag.“It is past time for change to be made to the flag of the State of Mississippi,” Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement Thursday. “Our students deserve an opportunity to learn and compete in environments that are inclusive and welcoming to all. The U.S. government’s auto safety agency is investigating complaints that headlights can suddenly fail in some older Kia SUVs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe covers about 392,000 Kia Sorento SUVs from the 2011 through 2013 model years. The agency says it has 74 reports of failures that may be related to connectors overheating. There were no reports of crashes or injuries. Some complaints allege that both headlights went out in the middle of turns or while traveling on the highway. In a statement, Kia says its cooperating, and its own investigation shows that both headlights have not gone dark at the same time. U.S. investigators will determine how often the problem happens and look into the safety consequences. 763

The U.S. will pay drug company Pfizer .95 billion to produce and deliver 100 million doses of the company's COVID-19 vaccine candidate should the drug prove effective in human trials the company said in a press release on Wednesday.Pfizer will deliver the vaccine if and when the drug receives Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA after a large-scale Phase 3 trial.According to the reports, the deal includes an option for the government to purchase an additional 500 million doses of the vaccine.“Expanding Operation Warp Speed’s diverse portfolio by adding a vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech increases the odds that we will have a safe, effective vaccine as soon as the end of this year,” Health and Human Services Sec. Alex Azar said in a statement. “Depending on success in clinical trials, today’s agreement will enable the delivery of approximately 100 million doses of this vaccine to the American people.”Pfizer and German firm BioNTech are working together to develop the vaccine.On Monday, Pfizer said in a press release that results from Phases 1 and 2 of a German trial indicated that the drug "could potentially be administered safely, with a manageable tolerability profile," according to data from the tests.Biotech company Moderna is also working to develop a coronavirus vaccine. The Week 12 game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers has now been moved to Wednesday, the National Football League announced on Monday.The league said the game will be played at 3:40 p.m. ET Wednesday on NBC.This is the third time this game has been moved.It was originally scheduled to be played on Thanksgiving night but was moved to Sunday due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Ravens.It was then moved from Sunday to Tuesday, and now will be played Wednesday.
