HONG KONG, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The government of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) announced Wednesday the suspension of an extradition agreement with Germany and shelved a similar agreement yet to take effect with France.
"This is a repudiation of the principle of market economy and fair competition that the United States has always boasted about. This is trampling on international rules and disrupting exchanges and cooperation in science, technology and innovation riding the trend of globalization. The world will only see more clearly the true face of these self-serving bandits-like politicians," the spokesperson added.
As China was assuming the presidency of the UN Security Council for March, Zhang Jun, the Chinese permanent representative to the UN, briefed the press on the monthly work program.
The vice premier underscored the launch of rural health campaigns and the acceleration of rural waste treatment programs to promote steady improvements in rural living environments.
