You can find weights, and workouts at any gym. But for gymgoer Amanda Hall, she finds something else at her gym she can’t find anywhere else. At The Phoenix, Hall is a fitness coach. She found the gym four years ago after trying over and over to beat her addiction to alcohol. “Every time one of those things didn't work out, I just ended up feeling more and more alone,” she says. But not at The Phoenix, which serves as an active sober community for its members suffering from substance abuse. “Nobody really cared about like where I went to treatment, if I went to treatment, if I go to one program, if I don't go to another program,” she says. “The only thing that was important was that we all just wanted to come together and have fun.” Gym founder and executive director Scott Strode started The Phoenix after his own battle with addiction.“I found my way into a boxing gym, and there was something really special about getting in the ring for the first time and being in there with other guys that were in recovery,” Strode says. “There were a couple sober boxers there and they became my support network.”To attend, you only need to be sober for 48 hours. “It burned and from its own ashes it rose again, and that's the story of so many people that come to our program,” he says of the gym’s name. “So, the name’s a perfect fit.” Phoenix gyms are in 20 states across the country, and they’re free! “There are so many programs that if you don't have the right insurance or you don't have enough money to self-pay or whatever else, you can't get access to treatment,” Strode explains. “Phoenix, if you can open the door, you can be part of it.” That incentive made it easier for Andrew Brough to come to the gym’s Denver location four years ago, while battling his addiction to opioids. Now, as manager of the Denver Phoenix chapter, Brough helps others in the same position he was in. “There was a lot of people that, like, help me along my journey that allowed me to be in this position,” Brough says. “And now, I hope that I can do that for somebody else.” 2080

It's a home for kids," said Way.The home for more than 70 kids could soon be closing its doors."I feel sad for the children, parents and staff," said Carol Wilson, owner and director of Intelli Chidren.Ceiling stains in many of the classrooms mark the problem. Wilson says the leaky roof she noticed when she moved in eight years ago turned into big problem with this winter's rains, when several floods for them to cause of several occasions. According to Wilson, walls had to be cut out in most of the classrooms. Wilson says after the landlord declined the necessary repairs, she paid for the repairs so she could stay open. She then stopped paying rent early this year."The business was not viable anymore," said Wilson.She says negotiations stalled when her landlord declined a permanent fix and told her she had to close the school in early August. For Way, a single mom, panic is setting in. Affordable, quality child care is hard to find and she fears she'll be in the same boat she was a year ago."I called from Escondido to Oceanside, and found myself on 30 waiting lists ... It needs to stay open. There aren't a lot of good schools like this in the area. It would devastate the community I believe," said Wilson. The landlord declined comment, contending 'eight months of back rent' are still owed him.  President Donald Trump's legal team is preparing answers to written questions provided by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources familiar with the matter.The move represents a major development after months of negotiations and signals that the Mueller investigation could be entering a final phase with regard to the President.The questions are focused on matters related to the investigation of possible collusion between Trump associates and Russians seeking to meddle in the 2016 election, the sources said. Trump's lawyers are preparing written responses, in part relying on documents previously provided to the special counsel, the sources said."We are in continuing discussions with the special counsel and we do not comment on those discussions," said Trump attorney Jay Sekulow.There may be more rounds of questions after the first answers are returned. The special counsel had insisted that there be a chance for follow-up questions as well. But after a prolonged back-and-forth over months, the two sides agreed to start with a first round of questions.Additionally, the two sides have still not come to an agreement on whether the President will be interviewed in person by investigators who are also probing whether Trump obstructed justice by firing FBI Director James Comey.Asked on Thursday about answering Mueller's questions, Trump again signaled his willingness to sit down for an interview with Mueller or provide written responses -- the option much preferred by his attorneys."It seems ridiculous that I'd have to do it when everybody says there's no collusion, but I'll do what is necessary to get it over with," Trump said in a phone interview on Fox News.
