Xi said he hopes that the two sides tap into their potential, boost cooperation in such fields as trade, investment and infrastructure construction, and expand people-to-people, culture and local-level communication.
The southern region is heavily inhabited by Zhuang, China's most populous ethnic minority that gave the region its name. Miao and Yao are also major ethnic groups that have inhabited the region since ancient times.
The two sides should continue to give full play to the guiding role of high-level leaders, respect the core interests and major concerns of each other, strengthen communication, build and consolidate mutual trust, and properly handle sensitive issues, the Chinese president said.
The senior Chinese official hoped that the law enforcement departments of the two countries will enhance exchanges and communication, improve cooperation mechanism, and jointly work for the security of the projects under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.
Mutual understanding and trust are the basis of deepening bilateral ties, said Xi.
