The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday afternoon.According to the National Weather Service in Miami, one tornado touched down in downtown Fort Lauderdale near Andrews Avenue and NE 5th Street at about 3:34 p.m. The tornado, packing winds of 65 mph, knocked over construction fencing and barriers. A minor tree damage was reported near NE 1st Avenue and NE 4th Street.  The NWS says the tornado touched down south of the Tarpon River in the Rio Vista neighborhood, causing tree damages and minor debris, including trash cans.  637

The Miami Police Department says what began as disagreement about masks led to an assault on Sunday evening.According to a statement from the Miami Police Department, the incident began at Latin Cafe, a ventanita or coffee shop near Miami International Airport. Surveillance video shows five people milling about outside of the cafe.The Miami Police Department says a few patrons got into an argument about mask compliance. Video shows one customer, wearing a mask and a red shirt, gesturing toward cafe employees and appearing to speak in exaggerated tones toward another customer without a mask.The customer without a mask stepped toward the man in the red shirt, and then a struggle ensued. Additional security footage shows the man in the red shirt falling to the ground. That man's girlfriend saw the incident from her car and ran to help. Police say she was also hit during the scuffle.Miami Police Officer Kiara Delva told WSVN-TV in Miami that the fight left the man in the red shirt "disoriented."Police say they're searching for four people in connection with the incident. It's unclear how many of those people could face charges.Miami currently requires the use of masks in public to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The race for a COVID-19 vaccine appears to be on the horizon. But without large numbers of Americans getting the vaccine, the notion of herd immunity could be a challenge. Some are pondering whether people should be required to get a vaccine.Coronavirus cases are spiking across most of the country. Hospital ICU beds are becoming scarce, and a number of states are warning of potential lockdowns.“If they don’t start to bend this curve, then it is clear that we’re going to have to take more difficult measures and go to a stay-at-home order,” said Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.But there was some good news this week. Pfizer concluded phase three of its vaccine study. The two-shot course they say is 95 percent effective against COVID-19. Earlier in the week, Moderna said its vaccine is 94.5 percent effective.“Based upon the preliminary data that is out there, these vaccines appear to be quite safe and very, very effective at preventing COVID,” said Dr. Tina Tan, a professor of infectious disease at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and a pediatrician at the Ann & Robert H. The New York attorney general is investigating the parent company of MoviePass, a source familiar with the probe confirmed to CNN Business.The state is looking into whether Helios and Matheson (HMNY) misled investors about its finances, the source said. The investigation is being conducted under New York's Martin Act, an anti-fraud and investor protection law. The existence of the probe was first reported Wednesday by CNBC.The movie subscription service exploded in popularity last year when it began offering customers the ability to watch as many movies in theaters as they wanted for per month. But that business model proved unsustainable, and the company has since changed its subscription plans and pricing as well as the number of movies it makes available to its customers.As the company's troubles worsened this year, its stock price also cratered.Helios and Matheson stock was trading at an all-time high of nearly a share in October 2017.
