ORLANDO, Fla. — A Georgia woman who ran in the 10th Anniversary Disney Princess Half Marathon over the weekend says she lost a cross pendant necklace filled with her daughter's ashes on Sunday.Chasity Foster, a teacher from Augusta, Georgia, lost her 17-year-old daughter, Shaylin, in a car crash on her way to school last month. Shaylin was a high school senior who had been accepted into college to become a biomechanical engineer with the dream of creating prosthetics for children. Before the tragic accident, Foster said the two used to run several marathons together; including the Disney marathon."She was a very fast runner. She was involved in soccer, cross country and track," Foster told Digital Producer Veronica Beltran over the phone. Foster said this year they had signed up for the Disney Fairy Tale Challenge, previously known as the Glass Slipper challenge, — which involves a 19.3 mile magical adventure in two days including the Disney Princess Enchanted 10K and the 10th Anniversary Disney Princess Half Marathon.She said after last month's accident she was unsure about participating in the race. After Wesley Baker, Shaylin's best friend, asked his mom, "what if Shaylin would have wanted us to?" she knew they would in fact be heading to Florida for the race to run in her honor.Foster said her husband, Chris, ran in Shaylin's place and even wore her Princess Anna costume. During Sunday's marathon, Foster says she was hesitant to wear the cross pendant necklace with Shaylin's ashes because it means so much to her but she wanted her daughter to be there with her as she ran even if she wasn't there physically."I had my husband double check to make sure the necklace was on properly because I didn't want it to fall off," Foster said. "During mile three, I realized the necklace was missing. It's devastating to lose any child and then to lose the necklace I started freaking out."She said she was still wearing the necklace when they were in front of the Magic Kingdom parking lot entrance. A short distance later, near the princesses, is when she realized it was gone.She went to look for it with her family and friends, but wasn't able to find it before heading back to Georgia."To lose this necklace is just devastating and priceless. ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Southern California is getting a new tool in the state's fight against wildfires. A new program, called Fire Integrated Real-Time Intelligence System launched September 1. The system uses a fixed-wing aircraft that can see through smoke using using infrared and radar sensors. The plane, according to the Orange County Fire Authority, provides real-time perimeter mapping and live, high definition video to support predictive spread modeling. “The State of California must shift strategies to address the constant crisis of wildfires – this is no longer a seasonal threat,” stated Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris. “I am proud to have partnered with the Orange County Fire Authority in securing .5 million in state funds for technology that will protect lives and property by giving first responders better, stronger tools to use against the threat of wildfires.”The UCSD WIFIRE wildfire spread modeling also projects where and how large the fire will before over a 6-hour time period. (CNS) - Oceanside's police chief has called for an internal investigation into an arrest in which one officer used a stun gun to subdue a carjacking suspect, causing him to fall backward onto his head, before two other officers forcefully twisted him to lie facedown.Video of the Tuesday incident was captured on a witness' cellphone and shared on social media, according to Oceanside Police Department Chief Frank McCoy.Police officials Wednesday released an officer's body-worn camera footage of the arrest along with the cellphone video, plus an open letter by McCoy providing more details.Dispatchers received reports around 4 p.m. Tuesday that the man attempted to carjack several people at multiple locations in Oceanside's Mesa Margarita neighborhood while armed with a knife, McCoy wrote in the letter. That victim went back outside a short time later and saw the suspect fighting with another person down the street.The man was still armed with the knife when officers approached him Tuesday afternoon at an undisclosed location in the Mesa Margarita neighborhood, McCoy said.The officers on scene were armed with two types of less-lethal weapons as they approached, according to McCoy.In the videos released by OPD, the man appears to have dropped the knife to the ground and has both hands on his head as one officer approaches from the front and two approach from behind. The man appears to kick something on the ground -- possibly the knife he had dropped -- and then takes a few steps toward it while shouting at the officers.As this was happening, the officer in front of him can be seen taking several steps toward the man before using his stun gun. The man goes stiff and groans as he falls backward, hitting his head on the ground.The two officers behind him then rush in and grab him before forcefully turning him over onto his stomach. In the videos, it appears the man's face hits the ground as officers turn him, and he groans again.Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to Tri-City Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries, McCoy said.The man, identified as 32-year-old David Hernandez Avila, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of felony carjacking, attempted carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon, among other charges, according to jail records.
