SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Padres infielder Ian Kinsler has announced his retirement from baseball.The Padres' second baseman announced his retirement after 14 seasons in the major league, team announced Friday. Kinsler, 37, will remain with the Padres as an advisor to baseball operations. According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Kinsler is still owed .25 million on his contract, which he will reportedly work out with the team.Kinsler was placed on the disabled list last August over a herniated cervical disk, which prevented him from finishing out the season. The injury played a role in his decision to leave the game.“To be honest, it was a factor in my decision,” Kinsler told The Athletic. "It just felt like this is the end, time to move on. He finishes his career with 1,999 hits in 1,888 games, a career .269 batting average and .337 on-base percentage, 243 stolen bases, and 257 home runs.During his one season with the Padres, Kinsler recorded 56 hits in 87 games, batting in 28 runs and recording a .217 batting average.The team's depth chart has newly-acquired infielder Jurickson Profar and Greg Garcia listed at second base heading into the 2020 season. 2000

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is warning San Diegans about a mysterious and possibly deadly counterfeit drug being traded on the streets. The department says they believe the pills have caused four overdose deaths in San Diego County over the last 36 hours. The deaths happened in Valley Center, Santee, Poway and Lakeside. “It’s being traded and sold on the streets with the promise of a painkiller high, but no one really knows what exactly is in the drug which makes it so dangerous,” the department said. Authorities say the pills are blue with one side marked by an "M" while the other side is stamped with a "30." The department says the pills are often called "M-30s" or "blues."While the department doesn't know exactly what's in the pills, investigators say these type of pills often contain fentanyl or carfentanil.Anyone with information is urged to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three women were rescued from a Blacks Beach cliff early Thursday.The three women, all from East County, were stuck on a cliff in the Box Canyon area of La Jolla just after 8 a.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue and lifeguards. Fire crews said the women became stuck just above the beach, prompting crews to use a rope system to hoist them down."As you can see, even using a rope system to get down to the beach is challenging because of the steep and slippery cliff conditions," SDFD said in a Facebook post. 540
