SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Across the county, doorbell camera video has caught 'grinches' behaving badly."Upsetting and makes me feel violated," said Catherine Butler, who lives on Palm Avenue in La Mesa. When Butler woke up Wednesday morning, she came upon a mess outside her home. A wreath hanging on the side of her home was on the ground. A lighted garland was cut and left in her yard. She found a string of cut-up Christmas lights near the sidewalk.RELATED: How to stop porch pirates from stealing your packages around the holidays"It makes me mad. It's not right and it's very grinchy," said Butler.Surveillance video reveals the culprit: a man walking barefoot on her patio railing, yanking down her lights. "I put up things because it's fun to be in the season. To have something negative happen, it just feels really personal," said Butler. Butler is hardly the only one feeling that way. There have been a plethora of videos posted this week of package thieves throughout the county, likely targeting Christmas presents. In Chula Vista, a video posted on the Neighbors App by Ring shows a man wrangling a large holiday wreath off a front door. In the post, the homeowner says the wreath had been put up for the last 15 years. In another post from Spring Valley, a person seen walking away from a home and into a waiting car took a Mickey Mouse projector light. Sometimes, a grinch can be dangerous. Part of their living window was shattered, as their children were inside watching 'The Polar Express."Ring videos show several grinches in a neighborhood in Del Sur, but these thieves had a change of heart. Teens are seen nabbing a 0 projector light. The victim posted the video on social media Wednesday and hours later, a teen was recorded dropping it off on the front doorstep. 2075

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego mom is hoping the county's new plan to provide more affordable housing will help keep her off the street. Leticia Rodriguez, her mom, and two kids have been living in Rodriguez's van the last several months, but right now the van is in the shop. They're hoping to get into the San Diego Rescue Mission. It would be their first time sleeping at a shelter."You have to come back at  5 ' o'clock and line up and you know, wait to get in, every day, until you get a bed," said Rodriguez. Rodriguez makes  an hour as a team leader at Jack N' The Box. She's been looking for a place she can afford for more than a year. "You can get a studio for 0 then you're lucky, but then they say how many are you? Then they say, that's too many," said Rodriguez. Tuesday the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to set up a million dollar trust fund for the county to use to invest in affordable housing. The vote followed a brief presentation by staff detailing the housing-related hurdles in the San Diego region, including that more than 3,500 affordable units have been lost in the last 20 years. 1192

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego-based company is ramping up its production of ventilators to meet rising demand around the world. ResMed is primarily known for its devices to aid sleep apnea. However it also has a line of ventilators, which have now become their primary focus.“Our goal is to have 2 to 3 times or more of our global manufacturing capacity in a few weeks, then push beyond that,” said Mick Farrell, CEO of ResMed.Farrell says they began increasing production in January when the outbreak was spreading in China. They’ve now ramped up ventilator and ventilator mask production at all of their facilities. Farrell would not say how many they will be able to provide to American hospitals but said they have been in conversation with the federal government and other suppliers to meet the challenge. “We think between us and our competitors we can keep up on the demand that is needed for ventilators,” said Farrell. On Wednesday, San Diego County health officials said half of the region’s ventilators were currently being used but more were on the way. However, they did not provide specific numbers on how many were available. When asked if he thinks there will be enough, Rob Sills with the county’s medical operations center said, “We don’t know what the final number is going to be, we don’t know how many we are going to need. It is our desire to have enough to judiciously put in place systems so that we can distribute ventilators where they are most needed.” 1488
