(KGTV) -- Mexican authorities are investigating the discovery of a tunnel near the Otay Mesa border in San Diego, U.S. officials said.Department of Homeland Security officials confirmed the discovery Thursday morning but did not provide any further details.“At this time, U.S. authorities are aware of a tunnel discovered by Mexican law enforcement officials near the Otay Mesa border. However, we have not yet determined whether the tunnel entered into the U.S.," said Lauren Mack, a spokeswoman with the DHS.All that is known at this time is that the tunnel is in Mexican territory, south of Otay Mesa which stretches east of 805 and south of the 905 freeways.10News station partner Televisa reports that the tunnel does cross the border. San Diego, Calif. (KGTV) - Season 16 of the Bachelorette was unlike any other. The original Bachelorette, Clare, fell quickly in love with one of the men on the show and left engaged to him. Then a new Bachelorette, Tayshia was brought in. San Diego local Chasen Nick was there through all of the drama, trying to vie for each woman’s heart.Chasen, who has lived in San Diego for close to ten years, said his friends submitted him for the show. He said he was brought in during the pandemic, so he knew Clare was the Bachelorette and he knew the season would be shot in a quarantined setting at a Palm Springs resort.Tayshia sent him home on the episode that aired Nov. 24 and he said looking back, he felt more of a connection with Clare.“I have to be completely honest, I’d say Clare. I didn’t really get the opportunity to progress with Tayshia and it was just a surface level connection getting to know each other,” he said.Chasen had a few heated moments during his time on the show, including calling Tayshia a “smoke show” in front of the other guys in the house. Looking back, he says he would’ve picked a different word. He said one part of the journey he would not change, though, was his interactions with Ed, another guy in the house. Chasen and Ed had a few tense moments, but Chasen said he doesn’t regret how he reacted.“I wish Ed would have stopped and surrendered when I apologized but some people hold onto things. I think if that was different than things could’ve been different with my progression with Tayshia and our relationship,” said Chasen, saying he and Ed have reconciled since the show aired.Chasen said he’s happy to be back home in San Diego. He’s ready to focus on his career working as an account executive for Apex Systems, then get back into the dating world.“I’m onto bigger and better things right now, focus on myself, and I’ll be able to put myself out there eventually,” he said.He said since the show started airing, he’s received support from his community and strangers in the San Diego area.“So much support and love from everyone. I’ve been recognized in public and don’t be afraid to come up to me and say hi. I’d love to talk to anyone. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- Some Mission Beach residents say they are fed up after their streets are piling up with trash. They say designated parking spots for e-scooters have remained uncleaned for months, causing concern for flooding. It's all fun and games until it's not. "When the rainy season does happen, you will see Mission Beach flooding," Mission Beach resident and Town Council VP, Greg Knight said. First, the problem was unsupervised parking. E-scooters were piling up all over the neighborhood. Now, they are giving Mission Beach residents a new headache - their corralled parking spots."This [Corral] gets filled a lot of times with leaves, sand, debris," Knight said. "We have a lot of party rentals that go on here, which means excess trash."All of the debris should be swept up twice a week on Mission Boulevard. But since the City of San Diego put in the e-scooter parking corrals in July, Knight says these areas have remained untouched. "When this washes down, that's the stuff that goes into the storm drain and will actually block it up," Knight said. Knight saw a City street sweeper driving around the corrals, even after he says the Mayor's office promised street sweeping would not be affected. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- The fight continues fort tenants in Oak Park who say they soon won't be able to pay their rent if it continues to go up. The group met with the San Diego Housing Commission Friday morning. Many of the tenants are seniors living on a fixed income. Some of them say they've already seen their rent increased twice this year. "There doesn't seem to be any protections for people like us," says one of the tenants who spoke during Friday's board meeting. "We're on a fixed income; we get a two percent raise every year. My rent was raised by 50 percent."Olive Wood Gardens is a low-income housing complex for seniors and those who are disabled. Tenants say they are scared for their future. "I don't know what to do now," says Kathy Blackstock. "I don't think I can go back to homelessness."They're not only asking help from the San Diego Housing Commission; the tenants are hoping the state would pass Assembly Bill 1482. Last week, a rally was held outside of the complex in support of the bill. It would make it illegal for property owners to raise rents more than seven percent in one year. The Senate Committee is currently reviewing the bill. The San Diego Housing Commission board says they've referred the tenants' comments and information to the staff. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --Concertgoers have questions about show refunds with tickets bought from third party vendors.Danny Memeo is one of those people. He went to Kaaboo in Del Mar last year. It was a special time for him and his wife, Kelly.“We got to see Tom Petty right before he died, so we're super thankful,” Memeo said. They had a great time, so decided to go again this year.“So we got the tickets, and then all this stuff happened,” Memeo said.He bought the tickets through Vivid Seats. It cost roughly ,800 for their entire family. “That’s a lot for anybody,” he said.Meanwhile, his family got devastating health news. Kelly’s cancer returned. Danny said her prognosis is not good, with an estimated 12 months left to live.“[We’re] thankful for 12 months, thankful for family,” Danny said. “But wow, what a difficult year for a lot of people.”Back in July, Kaaboo officially announced there would be no event this year. “All pass holders will have the option for a full refund,” said a statement on its website.Because Danny’s family bought tickets through a different site, it’s a different story. As of Monday morning, he did not have any luck getting his money back.“They just said… when it does get rescheduled, you’ll get those tickets and you can sell them if you don’t want them,” Danny said the company told him.Vivid Seat’s website said that if an event is canceled, customers “will receive a Rewards Cash loyalty credit for 110% of the full value of your order total.”For postponements, customers “will need to hold onto [their] tickets for now.”Team 10 contacted Vivid Seats and informed them of the Memeo family’s situation.A spokesperson said they would refund them immediately.“Vivid Seats was happy to refund Kelly. At Vivid Seats we have refunded thousands of orders totaling tens of millions of dollars since the global pandemic shut down all live events in America. We have also provide an over million dollars in extra store credit to customers during this difficult time. As one of the few marketplaces still offering a full cash refund, Vivid Seats is communicating with each consumer once an event is canceled.” 2151
