SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 21-year-old man was hospitalized Monday after he was stabbed in the back and arm by a home intruder in the Oak Park neighborhood, police said.It happened around 11:55 p.m. Sunday at a home on Fauna Drive, located off College Grove Drive just northwest of state Route 94, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.The victim went downstairs to get some milk for his daughter and found a man standing in his kitchen, Buttle said.A struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed in the back and the right arm before his assailant fled, the officer said.The victim's wife drove him to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, Buttle said.No detailed suspect descriptions were immediately available.Detectives with the San Diego Police Department's southeastern division were investigating the stabbing. 872

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A deceased whale was found by lifeguards floating off the coast of San Diego Thursday.San Diego Fire Rescue Lifeguards at Black's Beach spotted the dead whale floating about two to three miles off Sumner Canyon.Lifeguards responded to the gray whale, found to be about 30 feet in length and show obvious sounds of bloating and decomposition, according to SDFD spokesperson Monica Mu?oz.RELATED: Humpback whale feeding frenzy off San Diego's coastSDFD lifeguards are working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to secure samples of the whale carcass and figure out what disposal options are available.It wasn't immediately clear what led to the whale's death. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A European carrier is hoping to transform the way Southern California travels between major cities.FlixBus will start offering service to 10 Southern California cities, including in San Diego, beginning May 31. The service, which has operated within Europe since 2013, is hoping to carve out a presence with discounted ticket prices and some high-tech additions.For a limited time, travelers can snag fares from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for as low as on select dates throughout June, according to the service's website. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A group of Hillcrest residents are fighting a proposed housing tower they say would take the sunshine out of their neighborhood and add traffic. Greystar Development wants to build a seven-story, 111 unit mixed-use housing complex near 7th and Robinson, not far from Whole Foods. The complex would replace the parking lot AT&T employees currently use for the company's building across the street. The lot borders a neighborhood filled with Spanish-style homes. The city gave Greystar a density bonus because it includes nine very low-income units. It also determined the developer would not have to do a costly and time-consuming environmental impact report."Housing, housing, housing is the only thing they're going to consider. And they're not going to consider the impact on the neighborhood that's there," said Tom Mullaney, who heads a group called Uptown United, which is appealing the project. Uptown United is fighting the city's determination that Greystar doesn't have to do an environmental impact report. That goes before the City Council April 23.Mullaney said Uptown United also wants the project scaled back. Jim Ivory, Greystar's senior director of development, said in a statement that company included community input in designing the project, which has the backing of the city's Uptown Community Planning group."We are proud of the design that has evolved in the last 18 months," he said. "Staff and community input has been incorporated along the way for the betterment of the project."Some in the neighborhood also welcome the project.
