(KGTV) -- Part of Interstate 5 in San Ysidro will be closed overnight Monday as part of the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry Modernization and Expansion project.The third stage of the project opens the four westernmost lanes of the newly constructed I-5 southbound just south of the Camino De La Plaza Bridge. Southbound I-5 will be closed between SR-905 and the San Ysidro Port of Entry from 10 p.m. May 13, to 7 a.m. May 14. The Camino De La Plaza southbound I-5 on-ramp will also close during the same time period. Traffic will be detoured to southbound Interstate 805 freeway via SR-905. Additionally, two to three southbound I-805 lanes will be closed during the same time period to complete the transition. (KGTV) - Southern California cities affected by the Thomas fire were evacuated Wednesday morning due to the threat of mudslides from an approaching storm.The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office issued a Recommended Evacuation Warning at 8 a.m. for the Thomas, Sherpa and Whittier burn areas in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria.A National Weather Service report indicated the area may receive moderate to heavy rainfall from a storm arriving Thursday that may generate mud and debris flows.RELATED: Local crew saves family from Montecito?mudslideThere is a high risk for loss of life and property, the SBCSO said. (KGTV) — A group of Santa Clara County coworkers is more than 0 million richer.The 11 co-workers who pitched  a piece into an office lottery pool successfully matched all the winning numbers of the July 24 Mega Millions drawing.The co-workers, who range in age from 21 to 60, decided to play on a whim after seeing how high the jackpot had reached. SANTEE (CNS) - A dispute between a 50-year-old man and his 49-year-old sister at an East County trailer park escalated Tuesday into a stabbing that sent the woman to a hospital and left her brother under arrest, authorities reported.The assault in the 8700 block of North Magnolia Avenue in Santee was reported shortly before 6 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.Medics took the victim to a trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening cuts to her face, Lt. Chris Steffen said.Deputies found the 6-foot-tall, 230-pound suspect, identified as Joseph Bodenstadt, on Mission Gorge Road and took him into custody.Bodenstadt was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated mayhem and resisting law enforcement personnel.The reason for the latter charge and the motive for the alleged assault were not immediately clear.The suspect was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Monday afternoon. 991

And because of that, entrepreneurs from San Marcos have found a way to fight the problem, and at the same time, help the environment. Jessica Bell says she battled health issues, so she and her husband came up with the idea for safer food containers."It just isn't the way I wanted to live my life," she says in reference to her illnesses.So for one, she decided to eat healthier food, and at the same time, steer away from storing food in plastic containers."I realized I had to take out the things that were contributing to disease. Trying to avoid that contact that food has with those plastic chemicals. We want to be a force for change there.."And the action she took was forming a company with her husband called ReVessel."The idea of a container that can be transported and have all these modular features."Made of stainless steel and silicon, the food storage kits, as they are called, were developed with the help of deep sea engineers. and with one top priority. "Leak proofing," she says. "it's an opportunity for people to carry their lunch anywhere, whether it's in a backpack or purse."But there is more to these storage kits, as they are also environmentally safe."The average number of sandwich bags that children are carrying is about four, and that's daily. Most of them are ending up in the landfill."Jessica calls her kits, "storage anywhere food ware", and with the COVID-19 pandemic, they've teamed up with local restaurants and farms, to deliver healthy food in the kits, to front line workers. "We put together over 200 meals, and we sent these out to front line workers. They can keep these containers and reuse them. We looked at this as a way we could donate meals to our front line healthcare workers, where health really starts." 1855
