SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 25-year-old has been arrested after being shot by a store clerk he was trying to rob, San Diego Police say.According to police, Hector Lopez-Gastelum entered the La Michoacana store on the 700 block of Vesta Street around 10:40 a.m. on October 18 demanding cash. Police say Lopez-Gastelum was armed with a handgun.After the clerk handed over the cash, the suspect reportedly demanded that a second register be opened.“While Lopez-Gastelum was still in the store, the clerk shot him twice in the torso with his own handgun, which is legally owned,” police said.The clerk then retrieved Lopez-Gastelum’s handgun and called 911. The suspect was taken to a hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) -- A San Diego County deputy facing charges that he groped 13 women was arrested again Thursday on five new charges, including forcible oral copulation.Richard Fischer, 32, is being held on million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in a Vista courtroom.Fischer faces more than 10 years if convicted on the new charges, according to the District Attorney. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 13-year-old San Ysidro girl's act of kindness has helped inspire others to give.Sahara Rodriguez read an article and how a young boy in Tijuana, Alexis, was trading his toys for food after his mother lost her job during the pandemic. Rodriguez wanted to help. She asked her mother to begin collecting food. They went to neighbors and friends to gather what they could, then traveled across the border to deliver the food to Alexis family."I’m very proud of her," said her mother, Dafne Noguez. "She’s a very shy girl and I’m very surprised that she’s been coming out of her shell and able to help a lot of people.” Noguez credits Sahara's involvement with the Girl Scouts for helping her daughter develop more confidence and leadership skills."It’s just so inspiring to see how she’s growing in that sense," said Alexandra Delgado of Girl Scouts San Diego, who has worked with Sahara over the years. "She did that step herself. Nobody asked her to do it. She just felt it was right.”Since that first donation, Sahara has continued collecting food donations to take to Tijuana. Alexis' family is now back on its feet, and Alexis is helping Sahara find other families more in need of the aid. "As a Girl Scout, it’s good to help people and we need to be caring about other people," Sahara said.In addition to collecting donations to deliver across the border, Sahara also works to help Rady Children's Hospital and is now working on a project to contribute to her community in San Ysidro. 1515

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A college student from San Diego is in custody Monday, accused of threatening to open fire on a school campus. Last week, a person posted a screenshot of what investigators believe is a text conversation with Trevor Faison in which he sent a message threatening to “shoot up the school.” Exactly which school he was referring to was initially unclear. According to Chief Joseph Ramos at the San Diego Community College District, Faison had been a student at Mesa College last semester but was no longer enrolled. Ramos said Faison is currently attending Saddleback College in Orange County. According to Gerry Braun, a spokesperson for the San Diego City Attorney's Office, police eventually "determined the criminal threat was made against an individual at La Jolla High School."RELATED: Team 10: The City Attorney's office effort to obtain gun violence restraining ordersBraun added, "there is another pending case in Orange County with similar circumstances."
