(KGTV) — Are you "Good to Go?"It's a name, question, and a badge of honor being offered by a new STD testing clinic run by UC San Diego in Normal Heights. For those who remember the TV show, the decor is a bit "Dating Game." Or perhaps "Austin Powers." Along with a feature you've likely never spotted in any health clinic."You can touch, you can create. You can get a low profile," says clinic Marketing Director, Marcell Reyes Vermillion, as he poses for selfies in a bright yellow photo-booth adorned with strings of yellow balls and a yellow shag carpet. The selfie-booth encourages those "cleared for sex" to take a picture for social media."This is a very sex positive message that we're hoping to share with people," said Dr. Susan Little, Professor of Medicine for UC San Diego. "There has been a lot of messaging around disease prevention. And we now have really good drugs, biomedical interventions, to prevent HIV infection among people who are negative. And to prevent transmission among people who are positive." Make no mistake, Dr. Little makes clear the goal is to stop transmission of STDs. Especially HIV among young Hispanic men where cases are still on rise. But Dr. Little says the new approach is to make getting checked an inviting experience, that celebrates health and sex."I think the time as come to let people know they no longer have to worry about disease," says Dr. Little. "We need to try and promote a sex positive, status neutral, sexual health promotion, rather than disease prevention." "Get checked, then you can mate with anyone you want," says Vermillion. Though, with the caveat, you want your partner to get checked too. The Good To Go clinic is funded by an NIH grant and free to those getting tested. (KGTV) - A ballot initiative could relieve Californians squeezed by rising rent prices. The initiative, led by the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, is pushing to repeal the state's 1995 Costa Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which prevents rent control from being applied to all housing built after 1995.The initiative has gained at least 25 percent of the signatures needed, according to the Sacramento Bee. If successful, the initiative could give communities more power over rent control ordinances. RELATED: San Diego group calling for rent controlSupporters believe a repeal of the act will help solve California's rent crunch, but critics fear such a repeal will stifle construction and development, and only make things worse. The initiative's organizers have until June 25 to gather 365,880 signatures from California voters to qualify for the November ballot, according to the Sacramento Bee.The push for rent control isn't just taking place on the state level.RELATED: New numbers show exodus from San Diego County, CaliforniaThe National City Families for Fair Rent coalition of tenants and community leaders are kicking off a signature-gathering campaign on March 24 to submit a proposal for rent control to the city. The group hopes to get their measure submitted to the November ballot as well to have a program implemented to stabilize rising rents in National City. 1440

(CNN) -- Teen clothing retailer Forever 21 is preparing for a potential bankruptcy filing, according to several published reports.Forever 21, which is privately held, has more than 800 stores in 57 countries. And while many retailers have been paring back their network of stores in recent years, Forever 21 was adding stores as recently as 2016. It still has as many stores as it reported at that time. The ability to get out of leases and close stores at a lower cost is one of the advantages that the bankruptcy process affords to retailers. The company did not respond to requests for comment.Traditional brick-and-mortar retailers that specialize in selling clothes to teens and young adults have had a particularly hard time in recent years as younger buyers shift from mall visits to online purchases.Among the retailers in the segment that filed for bankruptcy and closed all their stores during the last five years are Wet Seal, American Apparel and Delia's. Aeropostale also filed for bankruptcy in 2016 but has kept some of its stores open. Many retailers have run into trouble due to being purchased by private equity firms or hedge funds. But Forever 21 is still owned by its founders, Do Won and Jin Sook Chang. A husband and wife team, the Changs immigrated from South Korea in 1981 and started the chain three years later with a single 900 square-foot store in Los Angeles and only ,000 in savings.Forbes lists the couple as having a net worth of .5 billion, and the privately-held company itself as having annual sales of .4 billion and 30,000 employees.Bloomberg reported in June that some members of Forever 21 management had asked some of its landlords to take a stake in the company as a way of coming up with funds it needs.Mall owner Simon Property Group, for which Forever 21 is a major tenant, took a stake in Aeropostale during its bankruptcy process. In July Simon Property CEO David Simon told investors it was open to working with other tenants facing trouble, without mentioning any by name."We'll work together on other distressed situations, and let's face it, there are some out there," Simon said. "But we're only going to buy into companies that, we think, have brands and that the volume that is worth doing it."But Bloomberg reported Thursday that Do Won Chang has been trying to maintain control of the company in any restructuring, and that his desire to do so has limited the company's ability to find funds it needs. 2469

(CNN) -- Nike's gamble to partner with athlete-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick paid off Sunday as the company won an Emmy for outstanding commercial at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The commercial, titled "Dream Crazy," features Kaepernick alongside other sports legends including Serena Williams and LeBron James, who have reached beyond their personal achievements to support and advance political and social causes. The ad was released in September 2018 days before the start of the NFL season. Kaepernick was one of the faces of Nike's 30th anniversary commemoration of its iconic "Just Do It" campaign.Despite some intense response to the ad -- like people burning their Nike shoes and a Missouri college dropping the brand -- the company's stock hit an all-time high. Nike also gained tens of thousands of Instagram followers after announcing the campaign.Since the commercial aired on televisions around the world, Nike has released several other socially and politically charged ads featuring an array of athletes from different backgrounds. Most recently, Nike partnered with the Toronto Raptors in their release of a team-branded hijab for Muslim women athletes. 1185
