TRENTON, Fla. — Two deputies in Trenton, Florida were killed in the line of duty on Thursday.Around 3 p.m., two Gilchrist County Deputy Sheriffs were shot and killed in the Ace China restaurant in downtown Trenton, after a suspect walked up to the business and shot both deputies through the window.According to the Sheriff’s Office, when fellow deputies responded to the scene, they found the shooter deceased outside the business and Sgt. Tucson police Chief Chris Magnus offered his resignation during a press conference on Wednesday.Magnus made the announcement about an April 21 incident in which a man died while in police custody.The AP reported the man who died was 27-year-old Carlos Ingram-Lopez.The medical examiner’s office didn’t determine a manner of death but said Ingram-Lopez died of sudden cardiac arrest while intoxicated by cocaine and physically restrained, the Associated Press reported.Magnus has served in the role since January 2016. Two people have been killed in an explosion at a Veteran's Affair hospital in Connecticut, according to WTNH-TV and The New Haven Register.A VA spokesperson told WTNH that the explosion at the West Haven hospital was caused by a steam valve. The explosion occurred in a building that was not housing patients. Those who were killed were not patients at the hospital.According to The Associated Press, state and federal investigators are responding to the incident.
