(KGTV) - Vendors from the Del Mar Fairgrounds reopened in the parking lot hoping to make enough money through drive-thru orders to stay afloat.Tucked just behind the security office at the Solana Gate, you'll find signs for drive-thru fair food.Roxy's Restaurant, California Corn Dog Company and the Kettle Corn stand are staples at the fairgrounds. The pandemic shut down all of the fair's large scale events, events that would help vendors pay the bills.So owner of the Kettle Corn stand Oliver Feldhausen reopened April 24th in the Green Lot for orders to soften the financial blow."He was so pumped and happy with all the response he got, he invited us to come and join him," Shahram Naimi, owner of Roxy's Restaurant said.Naimi and Owner of California Corn Dog Company Rick Kasinak opened May 8th.Each Friday and Saturday they're open from noon to 6p.m.They're serving dozens compared to the thousands each day at the fair, but they say it's better than nothing."You know it's kinda touch and go but these weekends are definitely helping," Feldhausen said. He said he's thankful for the fair supporting them during this time and the power of social media."Every week we are seeing some of our regulars trickle in and as word continues to spread we're seeing more and more," he said.They're also spreading kindness. Each vendor is offering a discount to military personnel and first responders.Some customers are donating food to first responders and healthcare workers.Feldhausen said they've made deliveries to two fire houses, nurses and ER personnel. He said they were happy to deliver free of charge.Each owner has decades of experience at the fair."This would have been my 50th fair, " Kasinak said.Kasinak is third generation fair vendor. His grandfather opened his first stand in 1920 at the Minnesota State Fair. His father opened his first stand in 1969 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.Naimi came to the U.S. from Iran when he was 17 and started working in the restaurant business at 18-years-old. He opened Roxy's Restaurant in Encinitas with his brother in 1978. DENVER – A passenger aboard a Frontier Flight heading from Denver to Charleston, S.C. on Thursday, claims a man allegedly assaulted two women and then urinated on another passenger’s seat.Pictures obtained by Denver7 show the man, identified Monday as Michael Allen Haag, being taken away by police once Frontier Flight 864 landed in Charleston.The pictures provided by the passenger show the man urinating on the seat in front of him and also show him getting escorted by police.A Frontier Airlines spokesperson did not comment on the specific details of the incident when asked for comment, but said they were aware of the situation.“The safety and security of our passengers is our top priority at Frontier. Death Wish Coffee Company is issuing a recall of their nitro brew cans because of the potential growth of a deadly toxin.According to the Food and Drug Administration, the company recalled 11oz. Death Wish Nitro Cold Brew cans because the current process could lead to the growth and production of botulin.Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning and can cause symptoms like weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficult breathing and more.They have halted the production of the Nitro Cold Brew until an additional step in the manufacturing process is implemented.They have also removed cans from the comapny's online stores.The company said they will make sure everyone who bought the product on their website receives a full refund within 60 days.So far, no illnesses have been reported. 811

DENVER – An 11-month-old child who died after being exposed to marijuana is believed to be the first person whose death has been attributed to marijuana exposure, according to two Colorado doctors who published a report on the death in August.The report by Thomas M. Nappe, DO, who works at the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center in Denver, and Christopher O. Hoyte, MD, with the Department of Emergency Medicine at the CU Anschutz Medical Center, was published in the August edition of the journal “Clinical Practice and Cases in Emergency Medicine.”According to the report, the infant had “no known past medical history,” yet was admitted to the emergency room unresponsive with a depressed nervous system, then went into cardiac arrest and later died. The report notes that the infant was “irritable with decreased activity” in the day or two beforehand, but “was noted to be healthy” beforehand.A subsequent medical examination on the child was performed, which found THC enzymes in his blood, though the report notes that “route and timing of exposure to cannabis were unknown.”However, the report noted: “Additional history disclosed an unstable motel-living situation and parental admission of drug possession, including cannabis.”It also said it was “highly unlikely” the THC entered the boy through “passive exposure,” which could mean second-hand smoking or breastfeeding, among other things.The autopsy of the boy found he was suffering from myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart that, according to the Myocarditis Foundation, “usually attacks otherwise healthy people” and “is believed” to cause between 5 and 20 percent of sudden death in young adults. But the autopsy did not find signs of bacterial or viral infections, which often can contribute to myocarditis, according to the foundation.Nappe and Hoyte in their report say that they “propose a relationship between cannabis exposure in this patient and myocarditis, leading to cardiac arrest and ultimately death.”That conclusion, they say, should lead fellow medical professionals to consider urine screenings for THC in child patients who show signs of myocarditis and live in areas where marijuana is widely-used, like Colorado.
