SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Several people in a San Marcos gated community have reported being targets of package thieves, according to one victim who spoke with 10News. The Sheriff's Department is looking at surveillance video, which appears to provide several leads.Mikayla Manos says a package was sent to her home on Almond Drive Friday.  Manos is a mentor for foster children. The package contained the personal items of one of those children, which she was asked to deliver to him.  When Manos arrived home, she did not see the package.Manos checked with her next-door neighbor, who has a surveillance camera. Video from Friday afternoon shows a girl walking past Manos' home. She turns and points toward Manos' porch and can be heard saying "get it".The video shows what appears to be a boy picking something up from Manos' porch, although the package cannot be clearly seen from the camera angle. At least two voices can be heard off camera. One is heard saying "I can't wait to wear these to school tomorrow." Manos says clothes are among the items stolen.Manos says she knows of at least three other neighbors who were victims.  10News spotted an empty Nordstrom bag ripped open on one neighbor's porch, while another neighbor tells 10News someone stole items from his garage when he briefly left it open around the same time.Several package boxes were found dumped nearby, including Manos'. Some of the foster child's items were recovered, but many remain missing. 1498

Security is being questioned after a plane was stolen from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Friday. As officials look into how this happened, investigative reporter Jace Larson finds out more about the man piloting the plane.Richard Russell seemed coherent in his final conversations with air traffic control."I've got a lot of people that care about me, and uhh... it's gonna disappoint them to hear that I did this.”Russell did some aerial stunts while refusing air traffic control’s attempts to have him land.Russell’s final words were captured on radio, and he was apologetic to those he loved."Just a broken guy. Got a few screws loose, I guess,” Russell could be heard saying. “Never really knew it, until now."One of Russell's co-workers was surprised to hear his voice."You could tell he was in pain,” says Jeremy Kaelin, a former co-worker of Russell. “Kind of seemed a little delusional, and I was just shocked to see that someone who was so nice, so helpful and caring, actually he cared about his job, to do such a thing and you know and end his life."Russell had access to secure aircraft areas as a ground service agent and had knowledge on taxiing planes around the airport.Protocol requires two people to be present to tow the plane. Authorities are still unsure how Russell managed to access the plane alone and move it by himself."We believe he was in uniform,” says Brad Tilden, CEO of Alaska Airlines. “His job is to be around airplanes. He is tow certified, so he's meant to be-- airports have a non-secure side and a secure side. He's meant to be on the secure side. That's a part of the fulfillment of his job responsibilities."Once in the air, military jets were sent to follow Russell to make sure he didn't do anything dangerous."Military jets were scrambled from Portland, but it does not appear that the jets were involved in the crash of the Horizon aircraft," says Gary Beck, CEO of Horizon Air.The National Transportation Safety Board says Russell crashed through several lines of 10-foot-high trees. 2050

Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano was suspended for 80 games on Tuesday by MLB after he tested positive for a banned substance as part of MLB's screening for performance-enhancing drugs. In a statement released by Cano, he claimed he took furosemide, which Cano said he took for a legitimate medical purpose. But the drug allegedly is commonly used as a masking agent. The drug could be used for high blood pressure, or to reduce extra fluid in the body caused by liver disease, heart failure or kidney disease, WebMD says. "Recently I learned that I tested positive for a substance called furosemide, which is not a performance-enhancing substance," Cano said in a statement issued by the MLB Players Association. "Furosemide is used to treat various medical conditions in the United States and the Dominican Republic. This substance was given to me by a licensed doctor in the Dominican Republic to treat a medical ailment."While I did not realize at the time that I was given a medication that was banned, I obviously now wish that I had been more careful."Cano is an eight-time MLB All-Star. Cano was previously on the disabled list, and was expected to be out six to eight weeks. He will be eligible to return Aug. 14. 1278

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson addressed the nation on Tuesday following the announcement President Donald Trump had removed him from the position, saying his final say of service will be March 31."Between now and then, I will address a few administrative matters related to my departure," he said.Tillerson's responsibilities will be delegated to Deputy Secretary John J. Sullivan.He also said much attention needs placed on the issues with Russia, and that much work is needed when it comes to relations with China.Tillerson closed by thanking everyone for the "privilege of serving" in the Secretary of State position over the last 14 months. "All of us, we know, want to leave this place as a better place for the next generation," Tillerson said.He will return to being a private citizen, he said.Tillerson has been replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo. The CIA's deputy director, Gina Haspel, has been nominated to replace Pompeo as director.When speaking to to media from Washington D.C. on Tuesday morning, Trump said he got along well with Secretary Tillerson but offered no reason for the firing. Tillerson said he had no conversation with Trump regarding his being let go.In his final days as Secretary of State, Tillerson said the U.S. is a "long way from negotiations" with North Korea.
