SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A meeting to sell an iPhone ended in a wild chase and getaway in an El Cerrito neighborhood.Surveillance cameras caught the crime along Dayton Street late in the afternoon last Wednesday."My neighbor came to knock on my door. He was agitated and upset," said Maurizio Rios. Rios saw his neighbor right after it happened, and relayed the details to 10news. In the video, his neighbor is seen meeting with a man near the sidewalk. It's the same man who responded to an OfferUp post to sell an iPhone. Not far away stands another man. The neighbor hands the iPhone over for the man to look at, and almost immediately, the man takes off. After he takes off, the other person who had been around the corner runs with him.From another camera angle, the two men are then seen running down the block, with the victim close behind. Moments later, the same men are racing toward a moving car."They jump right into the moving car," said Rios.The victim is still close behind, but he can only watch as the the car makes a right and drives off. The neighbor is breathless and distraught, but he did spot some clues. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man suspected of shooting another man during an altercation on a trolley in downtown San Diego was taken into custody, San Diego police said.At around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the trolley station in the 1200 block of Imperial Avenue after a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg.According to police, the victim was struck by gunfire during in a verbal altercation with another man while both were riding a trolley train. Police said the victim was able to tackle the suspect, and other trolley passengers helped get the gun away from the suspected shooter.The suspected shooter fled the scene following the incident.ABC 10News learned the victim was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.About 90 minutes after the shooting was reported, officers spotted the man believed to be linked to the incident near Logan Avenue and Beardsley Street and then detained him.The suspect was later identified as 18-year-old Salvador Sanchez Cantero.A motive for the altercation is unclear; the shooting is under investigation. 1072

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego County woman has filed a lawsuit against a local physician who she says used his own sperm to artificially inseminate her.The discovery occurred decades later after Beverly Willhelm and her husband sought out a fertility specialist in the late 80s.Instead of receiving anonymous sperm, she says the doctor used his own. Willhelm says her son, 23-year-old James Mallus, learned after taking a 23andMe DNA test that his biological dad was the same man that his mother consulted to become pregnant.Willhelm says she's now suing the doctor for fertility fraud in a civil lawsuit.Though Willhelm's attorney said the lawsuit was filed Wednesday, ABC 10News is not naming the doctor because we have not been able to confirm that with the San Diego County Courthouse.According to the lawsuit, the doctor still practices in San Diego County. The lawsuit claims that "the Defendant, without Plaintiff's knowledge or consent, used his own sperm to impregnate her."The suit goes on to say that "based on allegations regarding his mistreatment of numerous patients in 1992-93, Defendant surrendered his California medical license in 1999."The doctor's license was reinstated in 2004. Those allegations are not related to the current lawsuit or other instances of fertility fraud.ABC 10News has reached out to the doctor in the lawsuit, but have not heard back. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A sailboat and power boat collided near the Coronado Bridge Sunday afternoon, injuring four people, according to San Diego Harbor Police.A good Samaritan drove by and noticed people floating in life jackets as their boat took on water. He picked up nine people and ferried them to Pepper Park. "It's just what you do you're a boater, it's what you're supposed to do, you help out on the water, people have helped us and we've helped other people," Kary Brownlee said.The damaged powerboat, a Bayliner, was towed back to the Pepper Park launch ramp where four passengers were evaluated for minor injuries. No one was taken to the hospital.The sailboat cruised back to Coronado on its own power."All it takes is a split second, when the captain is not paying attention that could cause a collision," boat safety advocate Amos Zolna said. He explained sail boats generally have the right of way, as they are harder to maneuver, compared to a power boat. Zolna said it's hard to navigate near the bridge, due to the large pillars that create blind spots.Harbor Police reported the 911 call at 1:28 p.m. They are investigating the cause of the crash and if any alcohol was involved. 1204

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A newly discovered comet flew past Earth early on Saturday, giving those who awoke early enough to catch it quite a show.Comet Neowise was spotted by a NASA telescope by the same name on March 27, according to NASA. Since then, the space agency says the comet has been spotted by several NASA spacecraft, including Parker Solar Probe, NASA’s Solar and Terrestrial Relations Observatory, the ESA/NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, and astronauts aboard the International Space Station.NASA says the comet came within Mercury's orbit on July 3, where the sun caused dust and gas to burn off its surface and create an even bigger debris trail.Neowise, which measures about three miles across, will be visible in Earth's Northern Hemisphere until mid-August, when it will change course and head toward the outer solar system, NASA says.For the next few days, the comet will be visible about an hour before sunrise in the northeastern sky in the U.S., NASA adds. Depending on local conditions, Neowise may be visible shortly after sunset on July 11 or July 12."In its discovery images, Comet Neowise appeared as a glowing, fuzzy dot moving across the sky even when it was still pretty far away," said Amy Mainzer, Neowise principal investigator at the University of Arizona. "As soon as we saw how close it would come to the Sun, we had hopes that it would put on a good show."In San Diego County, at least one stargazer was able to catch the comet streak across the early morning sky.
