Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have revealed they have been separated since late last year, according to a joint statement. The couple, who wed in 2015, said they intended to keep their decision private, but "given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.""This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year," the statement read. "We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship."The couple, a frequent target of tabloid stories, added in their statement: "Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else's fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another."The marriage was Theroux's first and Aniston's second. She was previously married to actor Brad Pitt for five years.Aniston will next star in an Apple drama series with Reese Witherspoon about the world of network morning TV.Theroux recently appeared in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."The couple met on set of the film "Wanderlust" in 2011.In a recent issue of Architectural Digest, which gave a look inside the couple's home, Aniston spoke about their life together."There was a time when I thought there was something romantic about picking up and trotting off somewhere different every three months. Now I'm becoming more particular about the projects I take," she told the magazine. "I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there's nowhere else I want to be."  1621

Jake, a coonhound, wandered a long way from his Arizona home -- more than 2,000 miles to be exact."We are just really baffled by it," said Renae Metz with A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue in Pennsylvania.A good Samaritan found the 7-year-old dog near a YMCA in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania about 100 miles east of Pittsburgh. When they scanned him for a microchip, they found one, and it came back registered to Phoenix."We thought maybe a truck driver possibly found Jake in the middle of the night and didn't know what to do with him and brought him home, but we don't know that that's a fact," Metz said. After finding the microchip, they made the phone call to Jake's owners."We have a 7-year-old coonhound here who is registered to you, are you missing your dog?" Metz asked the owners. It turns out they were, for the past year. Jake disappeared from their north Peoria home. Getting Jake back wouldn't be easy with a brand new baby, but Metz wasn't about to give up on getting the dog home."We have 20 different drivers, three overnights and a lot of stops for Jake," Metz laughed.Metz's sister is a transport coordinator for rescued animals. She used the power of Facebook to put out the call for help and arranged for his return. From Tennessee to Arkansas to Oklahoma to Texas and New Mexico, over the past three days, the volunteers took photos along the way. And then Monday afternoon, Jake was reunited with his owner in Holbrook. Click on the map below to follow the route the volunteers took to bring Jake home. Now Jake is back where he belongs and thanks to a lot of volunteers, pretty well-traveled.Metz said Companion Animal Hospital in Roaring Spring kept Jake from when he was found until he left for his trip home on Friday. A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue has set up a crowdfunding page to help Jake's owners with the expenses of boarding and treating him.  Click on the link to donate. 1947

JULIAN, Calif. (KGTV) -- The threat of wildfires in Julian may be going down. SDG&E is installing underground power lines to help mitigate the fire risk. The project is also expected to keep critical facilities open during pre-emptive power outages. Not only will the work help prevent fires, it may also help keep power running when Santa Ana winds start picking up. Crews were hard at work Tuesday putting underground power lines near State Route 78 in Julian. RELATED: City of San Diego moves forward with undergrounding more power linesThe project is part of SDG&E’s effort to reduce the risk of wildfires and shutting down power during windy weather. It will help keep the power running to places like Julian’s schools, post office, library and their Cal Fire station. Phase one of the project is being done along Cape Horn Avenue. Many homes and facilities have lost power there during shutoffs in the past. While residents in Julian were happy about the changes, they know it won’t happen overnight. RELATED: Map: City of San Diego underground utility lines“To put all those lines underground is gonna be a major undertaking,” said resident Michael Lang. Phase two of the project will add underground lines along the 78. Currently, there is no timeline on when the project will begin. 1308

JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — Destruction of its signature trees and driving off-road during the partial government shutdown have added to problems that will force popular Joshua Tree National Park to temporarily shut down this week.Closure of the vast desert park is set for 8 a.m. Thursday and will allows staff to address sanitation, safety and resource protection issues that have occurred, the National Park Service said in a statement Tuesday."While the vast majority of those who visit Joshua Tree National Park do so in a responsible manner, there have been incidents of new roads being created by motorists and the destruction of Joshua trees in recent days that have precipitated the closure," it said.RELATED: Garbage, feces take toll on national parks amid shutdownThe statement did not describe the extent of damage to the crazy-limbed trees with clusters of green spikes. A telephone message seeking comment was not immediately returned.Like other national parks, Joshua Tree remained accessible despite the government shutdown and problems of human waste, trash and damage began to occur as staffing was cut and visitor centers closed.Park supporters, members of local communities who depend on visitor traffic and even some visitors stepped in to help with some basic cleaning of restrooms and trash. The National Park Service said that assistance has been significant.RELATED: San Diego's federal workers struggle without paychecks as government shutdown lingers"Park officials are identifying the additional staff and resources needed to address immediate maintenance and sanitation issues and will utilize funds from the park fees to address those issues per the recently updated National Park Service contingency plan during a lapse in appropriations," the statement said.It added that restoration of access and limited services would occur "in the coming days" but gave no time frame.Joshua Tree sprawls over nearly 800,000 acres (323,755 hectares) of the Mojave and Colorado deserts about 140 miles (225 kilometers) east of Los Angeles. In 2017, it set a new attendance record with visits by more than 2.8 million people, an increase of nearly 340,000 over the previous year's record. It is most popular between October and May, when temperatures moderate from fierce and sometimes dangerous summer heat. Visitors are advised to have a gallon of water per day per person, and double that for hikers and cyclists. 2451
