I understand that I get that concept, but can we get a break once in a while? Just a little break, that's how I looked at this. This was my break," said Jeff Tracy.Tracy is referring to the safe parking lot on Imperial Avenue which accommodates RVs; it's operated by Dreams for Change."Because you can't function and take care of your basic needs if you're worried about your basic needs."Tracy's life forever changed seven years ago when a drunk driver crashed into the vehicle he was in with his wife and daughter. Tracy was the only one who survived, and he lost one of his legs. He's been struggling ever since. "It's a very learning process being homeless, and I don't like it, and I know most people don't, it's a hard life."Some RV owners like Tracy worry they'll have to move their RV during the day if they're moved to the new parking lot. He not only has to get his wheelchair in and out of the RV but says the cost of gas would be astronomical. "Expensive, hard, it's stressful, because now I've got to move it and where am I going to move it to? I've got to pull over here to some resident again, and they're going to get upset, I don't want to upset people," said Tracy.Tracy says the Safe Parking Program has given him a place to feel safe while he tries to plan for a better future. Gavin Newsom discount coronavirus cases in San Diego State students from the county's case rate.Supervisor Greg Cox said the county will send a letter to the governor formally asking that the state not include SDSU's case numbers in the county's total coronavirus case rate.Gov. Newsom said during a press conference Wednesday that he will not allow San Diego County to do that."You can't isolate, as if it's on an island, the campus community that is part of a larger community. Of those, McDonald said three cases are county residents with direct connections with SDSU students and four non-county residents with direct connections to students.McDonald added that the county is aware of four residential outbreaks related to SDSU students in the College Area, but there have not been any other outbreaks in other settings related to students."The reality is, the number of cases in ICU and hospitalizations is not being impacted because of those cases from SDSU," Cox said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Restitution payments were sent this week to the victim of an investor who stole .5 million, San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan said Friday in a news release. Shawn Heffernan of the Heffernan Group took the investments of 15 people “who were susceptible to fraud due to inattention or advanced age,” the DA’s office said. Heffernan spent the money on personal items, including a lavish wedding and a Maserati. In 2018, Heffernan pleaded guilty to 29 criminal counts including elder fraud, grand theft, forgery, and making a fraudulent tax return. He sentenced to nine years in prison. The judge ordered Heffernan to repay the victims, 0,000 of which has been secured, the DA’s office reported.
