NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A veteran wounded in the line of duty, who was told he would never run again, is gearing up to run a marathon in Nashville.Randy Woodward, of Smyrna, Tennessee is in the process of running 10 marathons in five weeks.He will complete each 26.2-mile run while carrying an 8-foot-by-5-foot American flag.“It’s been really great,” said Woodward.  “It will be something to look back on and say you did it. You finished it.”Woodward has already completed marathons in Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines, Iowa; Lexington, Virginia; Arlington, Virginia; Savannah, Georgia and Bowling Green, Ohio. He has plans to run in future events in Louisville, Kentucky; Fort Benning, Georgia and another in Nashville.Woodward was on his second tour in Iraq when he was hit by a roadside bomb. He spent nine months in hospitals recovering.  At the time, doctors told him he would never run again.“Fortunately, I have all my limbs,” said Woodward.  “I’m blessed and thankful for that.”Woodward was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery.Having run a marathon before his injury, Woodward was determined to run again. After recovering, he set his sights on the bold decision to run back-to-back marathons over the course of consecutive weeks.At each stop, Woodward’s efforts and his American flag have been getting a lot of attention.“I got just an outpouring of support from people,” said Woodward.  “It’s been really great.”Woodward said the reason he is running is to spread patriotism, and he hopes his efforts inspire others.“There is just so much divide in this country, and there is so much hate,” Woodward said.   1709

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — Tempers flared at a Michigan gym, and the confrontation was caught on camera.It started when Rachel Dixson says she went to get a new membership. After asking for a manager and resolving the situation, her information was violated, and her business attacked.According Dixson, who signed up to work out and at the Planet Fitness on Groesbeck in Mount Clemens, Michigan, while she was tanning the employee that signed her up looked her up on the web, found out she owns a car dealership and started writing negative and vulgar reviews.Video taken inside the Mount Clemens Planet Fitness Thursday shows Dixson confronting an employee.She says it all started much earlier that morning when she went to sign up.“It was my first time in the gym in a couple years, so I was pretty pumped and excited to work out,” says Dixson.But there was a problem. Dixson says the employee helping her wouldn’t let her pay with a debit card or include tanning in the package.She says her husband had paid before with the same card, so she asked for a manager.“(The manager) said no problem,” Dixson says. “They took my payment. He helped me with the tanning. I went in the tanning bed, and I worked out.”While she was doing that though, she says the employee was working on trying to ruin her business's reputation with negative reviews.This is one example:“She says this is absolute worst company in existence,” says Dixson. “You sell **** cars. NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - Stephen Manganiello will take over as acting city manager of National City in April, retiring city manager Leslie Deese announced Wednesday.Manganiello will begin his new role on April 2, when Deese is set to retire after serving in the National City government for 33 years. She has served as city manager since 2012, when the City Council unanimously appointed her to the post.According to Deese's office, some of her chief accomplishments in office include establishing a pension fund, helping the city reach an A+ bond rating and securing several multi-million dollar grants.Manganiello has served in the National City government for 12 years and has served in a dual role as the director of public works/city engineer since 2012."The City Council and I wish the very best for Leslie (Deese) on her retirement and are excited to have Acting City Manager Steve Manganiello, who is a familiar voice at the table, to help us continue to move city business forward," National City Mayor Alejandra Sotelo-Solis said in a statement.Manganiello will serve as acting city manager until a permanent city manager is chosen, according to the city. More than 200 interviews have been conducted in the investigation into the disappearance of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, according to the special agent in charge.Tibbetts, 20, disappeared nearly two weeks ago in Brooklyn, a small community an hour east of Des Moines, according to the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office.The hundreds of interviews are related to tips investigators have received, said Richard Rahn, the special agent in charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for the Major Crime Unit. The sheriff's office is scheduled Tuesday to give an update on the investigation."People are concerned and wanting to help," Rahn said. "We welcome the phone calls and are doing everything."Investigators are continuing to evaluate data, going over the leads list, and having agents in the field to locate Tibbetts. Data includes social media and information from a Fitbit that Tibbetts is known to have."We live in a digital world," Rahn told CNN sister network HLN. "We'll look at cell phones, computers, social media sites, and everyone knows there's a Fitbit involved as well. We look at that, try to establish a timeline as best we can.
