JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard announced Thursday that, at sundown, they would be suspending the active search for two firefighters who never returned home after a boating trip off the Florida coast.Officials say Brian McCluney and Justin Walker were last seen leaving a Port Canaveral boat ramp on Friday morning in a 24-foot center console. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the two men were heading toward 8A Reef, a popular fishing spot. On Monday, crews found a tackle bag belonging to one of the men about 50 miles off the coast of St. Augustine. That bag is the only piece of debris located that belongs to the men during the search. During a press conference on Thursday, Coast Guard Capt. Mark Vlaun said the search was a "race against time." 777

INDIANAPOLIS — Nearly 400 guns were seized from an Indianapolis gun store as part of a months-long federal investigation. United States Attorney Josh Minkler said the seizures happened on Tuesday from G2 Sports Products. The investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found evidence that G2 Sports "knowingly transferred handguns to an out-of-state resident, made false entries in records, failed to report multiple sales of handguns and knowingly transferred firearms to a prohibited person."The business agreed to an enhanced surrender of its federal license, according to the US Attorney's Office, which means none of the owners will be eligible to reapply for their license or deal in firearms again. The owners allowed ATF to seize the approximately 390 firearms, silencers and receivers which included rifles, shotguns and handguns with a total estimated value of 4,000. The seizure follows the indictment of Scott Genung for being a "prohibited person in possession of a firearm." 1032

KENSINGTON, N.H. – A father in New Hampshire killed a coyote with his bare hands after it attacked his young child on a trail Monday, according to the Kensington Police Department. Before that attack, police say they received a report of the coyote attacking a vehicle on Drinkwater Road in Hampton Falls at about 8:40 a.m. Shortly after, police say a 62-year-old woman on Hemlock Road reported that she and her dogs were attacked by a coyote.“The coyote was on her three-season porch and her two dogs had opened the sliding door and were attacked by the coyote,” wrote the department. “The two dogs retreated back into the house and the coyote attempted to get into the house. While the homeowner was fighting to keep the coyote out of the house, she was bitten.”The homeowner was treated at an area hospital and received the first series of rabies shots. She will return later in the week for a second set of shots. Her dogs were also treated. Then at about 11 a.m., police say that same coyote attacked a family walking on a trail in Exeter. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The GI Bill provides educational assistance to service members, veterans and their dependents.Rob Bannon of Jacksonville, Florida, is among the veterans who have used the government benefit to better their lives. Bannon runs a small business coaching and training golfers, both professionals and beginners. “I always had in my mind that I wanted to do something like this, but I wasn’t sure how it was going to work,” said Bannon. “That was the hard part.”Figuring that out became easier, in part, thanks to the GI Bill. Bannon spent 20 years in the army. He served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, then as a part of the joint chiefs of staff in the Pentagon during September 11. After he committed to going to the Middle East, doing two tours in Iraq, the Post 9/11 GI bill, paid his tuition and part of his housing at the College of Golf at Kaiser University. “The schooling helped me not only on the technical side on how to teach and the golf swing, but the business of golf was a heavy influence in there,” said Bannon. He put the money he saved on tuition into his business and built the facility for TPG Golf. Essentially, the GI Bill helped Bannon build a new future, post service. And over the past 75 years, since the first version of the GI Bill was passed, it’s helped more than 18 million veterans do the same. “The burden that we placed on them mentally, how much we stress them in combat, what we ask of them. I think what we do for them when they come home, is a small price the country pays,” said Bannon. Bannon says it takes a special individual to get up every morning, walk out the door and leave their family, not known what’s to come.“It is just incredibly important that we look after all of our military and try to give them the support they need,” said Bannon. Although well-earned, Bannon says he’s grateful to have gotten that support through the GI Bill. 1929
