XINING, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said Sunday the government would soon implement the reconstruction plan for quake-hit Yushu in northwest China's Qinghai Province.Hui made the remarks at a meeting of the State Council's earthquake relief and disaster control headquarters held Sunday in Xining, capital of Qinghai, according a statement released after the meeting."We must strive to accomplish major reconstruction tasks in three years in a coordinated and scientific way and in accordance with the law," Hui said.Yushu was hit by a 7.1-magnitude quake April 14, with more than 2,200 people being killed and thousands of homes being flattened.The State Council approved the reconstruction plan for Yushu prefecture on June 14.Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu (C) speaks at the reconstruction meeting for the quake-hit Yushu of northwest China's Qinghai Province, in Xining, northwest China's Qinghai Province, June 20, 2010. Hui Liangyu urged local government to pay more attention to improve people's living conditions during reconstruction in the quake-hit Yushu.Hui said the reconstruction must be carried out strictly according to the plan, while calling for a timely allocation of sufficient government funds.He called on builders, mainly from other parts of China, to aid the reconstruction efforts.Under the approved plan, reconstruction in the quake zone will be mainly funded by the central government.Related central ministries and departments must step up supervision and inspection to ensure no violations of regulations occur, Hui said.According to Hui, the State Council had decided to replace the quake relief and disaster control headquarters, set up one day after the Yushu quake, with a new office which will be charged with coordinating and guiding the reconstruction.The new office will be led by Zhang Ping, chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

People will never forget them," Li said.The exhibition on Aug. 12-16 in Beijing has been jointly held by 28 ministries and organizations, including the ministries of commerce, foreign affairs and finance.

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisory body Tuesday started a new seminar to improve the capabilities of 296 national political advisors in advising the government work.During the four-day seminar, the participants, who were from 34 walks of life, will attend lectures and hold panel discussions focusing such topics as how to persisting in and improving the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, as well as the basic requirements for advisors to better perform their duties.Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top advisory body in China, met with the participants at the opening ceremony of the seminar.The seminar is the fifth of the kind ever organized by the 11th CPPCC National Committee. BELGRADE, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo on Wednesday met with Serbian President Boris Tadic, vowing to add new impetus to the traditional friendship between China and Serbia."I am here to help realize the consensus between the two heads of states, pushing forward our strategic partnership and traditional friendship," said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), who arrived here on Wednesday afternoon for a three-day visit.Wu is the first NPC Standing Committee chairman to visit Serbia over the past decade. PIRAEUS, Greece, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Two Chinese naval escort warships arrived in Greece's Piraeus Port on Monday, kicking off a five-day visit.The vessels, destroyer Guangzhou and frigate Chaohu, are part of the fifth Chinese naval escort flotilla, which just completed the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters to protect commercial ships from pirate attacks.Chinese Ambassador to Greece Luo Linquan and some 200 Chinese nationals came to the port to welcome the arrival of the two Chinese warships. Waving Chinese and Greek national flags, the enthusiastic Chinese living in Greece greeted the Chinese sailors with cheers.They were excited when allowed to tour one of the ships."We are so excited to have a chance to board a Chinese naval destroyer," Wu Hailong, a Chinese businessman in Athens, said, adding that he and his friends come to Piraeus early in the morning from central Athens to welcome the Chinese navy soldiers.Zhang Buren, a Chinese national from Taiwan who has lived in Athens for more than three decades, said he was very impressed by the elegant demeanor of Chinese navy soldiers. "I feel very much proud as a Chinese and so happy to see China is developing fast."At a welcoming ceremony held at the port, the Chinese ambassador said the Chinese navy has made its effort in fighting piracy. "The Chinese naval escort flotilla has successfully escorted some 20 Greek commercial vessels in the waters near Somalia in the past few years," he said. Greece is one of the countries with biggest commercial fleets.The Chinese envoy added that the Greek government and Greek Navy attach great importance to the visit by the Chinese naval fleet. "The Greek shipowners will come to visit the Chinese naval fleet and express their gratitude to the help from the Chinese navy," he said.During the five-day visit, the Chinese naval officers and soldiers will visit a Greek navy base as well as the Acropolis and other archeological sites in Athens.China's fifth naval escort flotilla with more than 800 officers and soldiers has successfully escorted 588 Chinese and foreign vessels in 41 batches since it arrived in the pirate-infested waters in early March this year.
