SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Seattle man injured in an ATV accident in Mexico has died in a San Diego hospital, according to his family.Chad Carrico was on a cruise October 10 when he chose to leave the ship for a day trip in Ensenada.Carrico and friends rented ATV’s, according to his mother Theresa. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An 18-year-old San Diego student who has already cemented her place in climbing has now grabbed a historic Olympic accolade.Sunday, Brooke Raboutou, of Boulder, Colo., qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Games to become the first-ever American to qualify for Olympic climbing, according to the U.S. Olympic Committee. The University of San Diego sophomore finished ninth in the combined qualification round at the IFSC Climbing World Championships in Hachioji, Japan, according to Team USA. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An appeals court Friday granted a stay against a San Diego judge's recent ruling allowing strip clubs and restaurants to reopen despite the state's coronavirus restrictions.The decision by the Fourth District Court of Appeals, District One, freezes an earlier ruling, forcing restaurants to again only offer takeout and delivery service, per California's recent health order. Any opposition to the state's filing must be submitted by noon Wednesday.Lawyers for the state argued against the Superior Court ruling, saying it was overreach since no restaurants were parties in the suit filed by two strip club operators.RELATED: San Diego County to appeal ruling on strip clubs, restaurants amid health ordersCounty Supervisor Jim Desmond said in a statement the decision one day after some restaurants reopened was "tragic." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An online petition is growing among San Diego State University students who feel they should be partially reimbursed for tuition and other campus fees because of the pandemic. SDSU senior Kelsey Santin created the petition on Change.org Monday night. Since then, the petition has received over 3,000 signatures. Santin argues that since the way of learning has changed, so should the amount they have to pay. She also says they're paying for campus fees for services they aren't able to access on campus. SDSU started the school year with limited in-person classes and returned to all online learning after hundreds of students tested positive for COVID-19.ABC 10News reached out to SDSU for comment and a spokesperson referred us to the CSU System. A spokesperson from CSU says the money for tuition covers instruction, which students are still receiving online. Campus-based mandatory fees for things like the health center and advising are still available in a virtual format. Other mandatory fees, the spokesperson says, are fees that fund facilities that are often of a result of student referendums voted and approved by students, for things like construction or renovation of a facility.
