BEIJING, Sep. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao put forward four proposals for improving ties with Central Africa when meeting with his counterpart Francois Bozize Yangouvonda Thursday.     "China attaches great importance to the friendship with Central Africa, and we are willing to work with Central Africa to create a new era for our bilateral ties." Hu stressed.     Hu made four proposals for the enhancement of bilateral ties during the meeting.     First, Hu said, the two countries should cement the political foundation of bilateral ties and strengthen communication and coordination on major issues and important affairs. China is ready to maintain consultation and coordination with Central Africa under the framework of the United Nations and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on global issues, so as to jointly safeguard the developing countries' interests, Hu said.     "China and Central Africa are friends as well as friendly and cooperative partners," Hu said, adding that it has been the Chinese government's persistent policy to develop long-term, stable, friendly and cooperative relations with Central Africa on the basis of sincerity, equality and mutual benefit.     Bozize, who arrived here Wednesday for a week-long state visit to China, said he fully agrees with Hu's notion.     Bozize will also visit southwest China's Yunnan Province and southern Guangdong Province

BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Friday called for global cooperation in the fight against A/H1N1 influenza, in order to better protect the people's health and lives.     Li made the remarks at the International Scientific Symposium on Influenza A/H1N1 Pandemic Response and Preparedness, hosted by China's Ministry of Health with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Lancet. TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Israeli President Shimon Peres Thursday lauded the great achievements made by China over the past 60 years when attending a reception held by Chinese Embassy in Israel to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.     At the reception held at the residence of Chinese Ambassador to Israel Zhao Jun, Peres stressed that China currently plays an important role in the world.     He said that due to the great achievements made by China over the past 60 years, Chinese people are now becoming more affluent and confident, noting that "Israel loves China."     Highlighted the important role China is playing in the world, Peres said that "a peaceful China is a peaceful world."     Before Peres' speech, Zhao said that the reception was also held to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel.     China has made remarkable achievements over the years, said the Chinese ambassador, adding that despite the progress, China remains a developing country and will continue its development.     He added that the relationship between China and Israel is continuing to develop in many fields, while China is now Israel's biggest trading partner in Asia.     Zhao also mentioned the "Experience China in Israel" event, which will be held in October in Israel in a bid to show the development of China in many domains: education, economy, technology and especially the Chinese contemporary culture.

YAN'AN, Shaanxi Province, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Party cadres should always keep clean and stay away from corruption, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official said Saturday.     "Party cadres should withstand tests of the country's reform and opening-up and the Party's ruling status," said Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.     Li, also a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks as the Autumn term started Saturday in China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP), China Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan (CELAJ) and China Executive Leadership Academy Yan'an (CELAY).     "As Party cadres are being surrounded with more and more temptations, the education on resistance against corruption must be a vital task as well as the core content of Party spirit training," Li said.     The three schools, approved by the CPC Central Committee, are national training bases in fields such as CPC history and Party building theory, for government officials, enterprise managers and army officials.     "Schools should make it an important mission during education and training to strengthen Party spirit, ideal faith and good style, so as to play a unique role in promoting Party cadres' uprightness," he said.

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- China said on Sunday the U.S. decision to impose special protectionist tariffs on tire imports from China is grave trade protectionism and goes against its commitments made at the Group of 20 summit.     "We hereby express our strong discontentment and firm opposition to the U.S. decision, which was made regardless of China's solemn stance," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said in a statement.     U.S. President Barack Obama decided to impose a tariff on tires imported from China on Sept. 11, which will begin with a 35-percent duty the first year and decrease to 30 percent the second year and 25 percent the third year on passenger vehicle and light-truck tires from China.     "The United States, by making the decision, failed to honor its commitments made at the G20 financial summit and abused trade remedy measures, which is grave trade protectionism and will undermine the China-U.S. economic and trade ties as well as the early recovery of world economy," Jiang said.     China has lodged solemn representation to the U.S. side and reserves its right to take further actions, Jiang said.
