SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help identifying a man who entered the women's locker room at a Hillcrest hospital and prevented a woman from leaving the restroom after she rejected his advances.The suspect entered the women's locker room at the UC San Diego Clinical Training Facility at 210 Dickenson St. shortly before 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 20, according to San Diego police.A 30-year-old woman was using the restroom inside the locker room when the man walked inside, prevented her from leaving, then asked her, "Don't you want this?" while gesturing to his body, police said. The man then left the restroom, but held onto the outside doorknob to keep the victim from locking the door.He then walked back inside the restroom and blocked her from leaving four more times before she was able to lock herself inside the locker room and wait until he left.Once the victim heard a co-worker in the hallway, she left the locker room and went outside the building to get help, but she saw the man near another building and she ran away before calling 911.The suspect was described as a 6-foot white man with a thin build, unshaven face and short, dark-colored hair with a gray patch near his right temple. He also had a tribal design tattoo that circled around his right arm and various tattoos on his left arm.On the day of the incident, he was wearing khaki shorts, a yellow- colored reflective vest and dark-colored tennis shoes.Anyone with information on the man's identity or whereabouts is asked to call SDPD's western division at 619-692-4800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Lab-confirmed flu cases increased countywide last week for the second consecutive week, county health officials announced Wednesday.The county Health and Human Services Agency confirmed 74 flu cases, an increase of 22 cases over the revised 52 confirmed the previous week. The county confirmed 30 cases during the week of Oct. 20-26.County health officials have confirmed 475 flu cases to date since tracking for the 2019-2020 flu season began July 1. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed early this evening in a fiery crash on Interstate 805 in Serra Mesa.The fatal accident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway near Kearny Villa Road shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.The wreck left the victim's two-wheeler in flames on the roadway and forced a closure of the two left-hand northbound lanes of the interstate in the area, the CHP reported. 450

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman robbed a San Diego vape and smoke shop at gunpoint and was later arrested, authorities said Saturday.It happened just before 10 p.m. Friday at the shop at 3094 National Avenue, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.The woman walked in, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money, Heims said. She took an unknown amount of money and fled eastbound on National Avenue.Officers located the suspect a few hours later near South 32nd Street and arrested her, he said.The suspect was identified as Jeanette Sarmiento, 37, Heims said. 579

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A San Diego man was sentenced Friday to more than 11 years in federal custody for distributing child pornography.Prosecutors say Christopher Duane Wade, 41, admitted last year to sending child porn to others and engaging in a sexually explicit conversation with an undercover agent posing as a teenage girl.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Wade started talking with an undercover Homeland Security Investigations agent in April 2019, thinking she was a 13-year-old girl. They arranged to meet following "more than a week of sexually explicit chats," at which point Wade was arrested.Agents seized his cell phone, which contained pornography depicting "the abuse of very young children," as well as discussions with other people in which he encouraged them "to sexually abuse minors to whom they had access, and to document such abuse for purposes of distributing it to others."Following his 135-month federal prison term, Wade will be on supervised release for 10 years, during which he will be prohibited from having contact with minors, among other conditions, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office."One of our most important roles as prosecutors is to protect our nation's vulnerable children," said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. "In addition to personally engaging in despicable conduct, this defendant worked to recruit others to follow in his footsteps.
