(KGTV) — For Chula Vista native Cesar Moreno, instinct — and training — kicked in when a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Anchorage, Alaska, Friday."I went straight under my desk and I was just praying," Moreno recalled. "I was afraid I was going to die."Moreno said training for earthquakes while living in San Diego as a child helped prepare him for what to do. (KGTV) — A fire ripped through a mobile shower unit at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival early Saturday.Cal Fire Riverside reported the fire at about 2 a.m. near the center of Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif.The fire ripped through two trailers, destroying one and damaging another, before crews knocked down the flames at about 2:30 a.m., according to Cal Fire. No firefighters or civilians were injured. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. 473

(KGTV) - A Valley Center woman and her son are dead in an apparent drunk-driving crash in Austin, Texas that injured the woman’s husband and daughter.KVUE reported Guy Brasted, 41, was driving drunk and crossed the median of U.S. 183 on Saturday afternoon. Brasted’s Jeep struck a Fiat sedan, police said.Nancy Latulippe and her 14-year-old son Jackson died on impact. Latulippe’s husband Scott is in critical condition, relatives said. The couple’s daughter Keira was not seriously injured, according to relatives.The family issued a statement which said they "thank the community for their prayers and support. The family is surrounding Kiera with support. We continue to pray for Scotty's recovery. Nancy and Jackson are in our thoughts and prayers as we move forward. Scotty continues to fight. The group coordinates outreach, education, and dialogue regarding bullying, hate incidents, and hate crimes in the San Diego region.With the pandemic and many people at home, the organization’s chairperson said hate speech has increased.“A lot of time, [people] don’t have much else to do, but write and speak their mind anonymously.
